Hey guys I just picked up a 17 from a buddy he tried cleaning it with q tips n now they r stuck in there I bought a cleaning rod put some lube down the barrel n pushed for all I'm worth, only getting them all stuck in to a six inch plug. Any suggestions they r at the muzzle about 4 inches down he said there is about 6 in there wtf should I try...

Did you try lube or wd40 from both sides?. I would slap your buddy anyway, just for good measure.:)

If it comes right down to it, an old way of dealing with this was to heat a clothes hanger up to cherry red and push it through the plug.
Make sure you use a metal hanger, the plastic ones suck!:p

I once had a boresnake stuck in a .17hmr. I tried everything and the only thing that worked was heating a rod and burning it out. Gun never shot under 4 inches after, I think I damaged the rifling.

Cheers!!

Gee, I don't know whether they make dowel the small.

If you can, get a dowel rod. Gently tap it with a light hammer or soft mallet. It id a rifle bore, whatever jammed in there, will unjam with enough blows.

Think of the little bullet, all perfectly round. The rifling deforms it and causes it to crease as it moves that first inch or so down the barrel, so no worries.

If you can't find a dowel, buy a cheap brass cleaning rod and gently pound on that, knowing you will never use it again.

solder a small brass wood screw to the end of a cheap cleaning rod (or tig filler rod if you can't find a cheap brass .17 cleaning rod). push it in lightly and give it a twist and pull the crap out that way. you will never push it through. burning it is an option, but pulling it out is a better one.

I don't advise this to ANYBODY.......but 'I' personally would take a .17 hmr, remove the bullet carefully. Stick a little ball of tissue in it to keep the powder from falling out and shoot it in a safe direction keeping it AWAY from your face! C'mon.......we were ALL thinking it! I just came out and SAID it!!!! But I don't recommend that ANYBODY try this:rolleyes:

Glad you got it out. Now take the stock of and smack your buddy in the back of the head with the stock. :D

Actually, since his buddy uses Q-Tips to clean a barrel, I'd suggest that he stick a cleaning rod in his right ear and push it through 'till it comes out clear through the other side.

I'm thinking it will be clean the first time through.
Obviously nothing in there! LOL ;) :D
