Case trimmers

I would be curious to this discussion as well. I have just bought my first kit and need a trimmer to add for reloading and this will be my first trimmer. I plan to resize .284 Win to 7.5x55 for my K-31. My two cents seem to be getting something with power as I a, planning on trimming lots.
Don't tell anyone but I trim most of my bottleneck rifle brass with the Lee Zip trim and Case length gauge system and it works very well.
I also have a cheaper Lyman lathe type thats lock jaws keep coming out of adjustment. I may invest in a Forster eventually for specific length trimming. For basic trim to minimum I still like the Lee system. Handgun and straightwall rifle don't get trimmed on my bench.

I use a Guiard and it rocks, especially for the large amounts of 5.56 brass I have laying around. Makes trimming simple, easy and fun to do. Can do alot in a short period of time. The price is steep but you get what you pay for. It is a stellar trimmer and one I will never part with.
Here's one that you should consider, it's called the "World's Finest Trimmer".

It attaches to your electric drill and it makes quick work of resizing your brass. Plus it's extremely accurate. I've ordered one but I'm still awaiting my delivery. The only downside that I see is that it is caliber specific. Google "world's finest trimmer" for user reviews.
This device is definitely worth considering if you hate resizing your brass.

I bench mounted a cheap drill horizontally, wired to a foot pedal controller for hands-free operation. I use a wire brush attachment from a dremel tool kit to clean primer pockets for an entire batch. Then I swap out the brush for a Lee 3 jaw chuck mounted on the stud Lee for some reason sells separately. I can then whip through batches of brass where I use a caliber-specific Lee length gauge mounted on the ball trimmer, chamfer/ deburr simultaneously using a Lyman tool I recently found that does both in one shot, brush the inside, steel-wool the outside with 000 Fine, then wipe the case down with a paper towel.
The Zip trim made things a little faster but the setup above is wicked fast now.

2) they sure do. It is my pick for non-powered trimming. Fast and accurate.

Another option is the Forster trimmer.....I like mine, works well
I did some research and think of going with the wilson or Forster brand.
Who sells them in Canada?
Is it hard to find pilots and such for them?
I shoot some odd-ball rounds and even finding pilots for my lyman was a major pain in the butt

I am a die hard redding fan, but I must say, I am not impressed with my buddies redding trimmer and micrometer set up. It doesn't seem to square up the brass to the cutting face very well. I had purchased a Wilson ultimate trimmer from Sinclair and was impressed with it much more so than the redding. In the end I am purchasing a RDZ drill press mounted case trimmer as I have both pistol and rifle brass to do and want the quickest set-up possible. Be sure and check it out. I am very impressed with the one RODE has.
