I'm getting my dad a pistol as a gift (he's in alberta, I'm in bc) Is it possible to get a temp att to get it to his house?

I'm trying to purchase it initially, then transfer it to him.

I want to be able to present it, so I don't want to initiate the transfer till after I've given it to him. Ie dont want to give away the surprise till he unwraps it.

Basically looking to get an att to be able to transfer from my house to his house (he has his pal/rpal) and is able to own restricted's

Has anyone given a restricted as a gift? How did you deal with it?

cheers

why not mail it to him

tell him you have a package ariving, could he please sign for it.

when you get there transfer it after he opens his gift

i don't know if this is possible, just an idea

thanks guys

Part of it is that I'm making a cool presentation box (doing some woodworking) it relates to the fact that its going to be an old cowboy style gun (1852 colt navy) so I dont want it to go straight from a gunshop to his house.

I also want to be there in person to give it to him. As for just mailing it to him, I'd be breaking the law unless I can get an att to take it to alberta. I guess my best bet is to contact the cfo. Was just looking to see if anyone had done something similar.

getting a copy of his rpal would be tricky without giving up what I'm up to.

Not for mom!

However, I do agree that talking to the CFO would be your best bet. They may provide you with an ATT that would allow you to travel to a "temporary storage" location but I'm not positive.

P.S. Shipping via a licensed carrier (Picked up at your door) does not require an ATT. If you can get it transferred this would be completely legal.
