I have a CZ75 shadow, which is my second CZ75. I never really noticed the barrel wear on my last CZ, so it may be typical, but I just used a dial caliper to check the amount of wear on my shadow, and it is worn at the top of the barrel evenly, but the barrel has worn up to .025" ( at the most worn area). It looks normal, because it is tapered evenly wear, abut I dont really know what even normal barrel wear should look like on this gun ?.

I think that the barrel wore out, during the first few range sessions, after I first used it, from buying it new, and now it really is'nt wearing out much after a shooting session. I hope that the barrel wear is typical for breaking in a new CZ or any pistol for that matter. I always clean and lubricate my shadow after each time I bring it to the range, so I know its well taken care of.

I really just want to know that .025" of wear is normal, and if it was, then how much wear would be excessive, and require a new barrel ? Also, who sells CZ75 shadow barrels, and how much $ are they ?

At first read I thought you were kidding. I doubt your barrel has worn out in the first few range sessions. I have never heard of this in any handgun and certainly not in a CZ.

Take Care

If you wore .025 off your barrel in a couple of range sessions, you'd be finding grindings and slivers of steel inside the frame. I suspect what your seeing is clearance machined on the barrel when it was manufactured, and the finish is wearing off. FWIW, i have never seen that much wear on the outside of a handgun barrel that hadn't had a close encounter with a file or bench grinder.

I don't see anything abnormal at all, as far as filings or shavings, and every clearance seems fine, with no sharp edges. I have put less than 1000 rounds in total down the pipe from new. It is quite possible that the barrel looked like this from day one, and is part of the normal manufacturing process, but I just never noticed untill the finish has came off. I am going to take a look a new cz pistol the next time I'm at a gun shop, to see if its normal, which is probably the case. If its not normal, then it must be to tight on the outside of the barrel, were it contacts as the slide moves back and fourth. If this is the case, then I will do some delicate polishing around the contact points of the slide........but the more I look at, the more I think it is normal, and I just never really noticed before.

What you are seeing is completely normal. Don't be doing anything to your gun other than shooting it. The gun will last you a life time.

You mean the odd tapering from the locking lugs going forward on the top of the barrel? Normal. Look real closely and it looks machined.

Yes, this is what I think it is. I never noticed it on my previous cz, but I'm glad its normal because I could'nt see nothing abnormal. I never noticed when I first bought the gun, but I'm glad to hear that its normal. I took some emery clothe and polished all of the slide contact points, just to check for any burrs, but it was glass smooth already.

I'm glad its normal, because new barrels are about $150 + tax & shipping....lol

Thanks for the input, I'm glad I found out its normal.
