Thought I would share this (novelty?) rifle highlight with fellow CGN'ers.

As seen on gun blog ENDO:

"Well maybe not a battle rifle.. more like an “Impress People with all your disposable income” rifle:

You can check out more pics and info over at NEMO Arms. Damn I love the look of Titanium.

The barrel and a few other components are still stainless steel. Titanium is almost twice as heavy as Aluminum and way more difficult to machine. Like he said in the video, it’s to showcase their machining capabilities (and to no doubt get a buzz going around the internet).

NEMO arms will be at the NRA annual meeting today, so if you’re going you can check it out.

Thoughts?

Hat tip: Jerry"

Sorry if this is a repost but I did do a search of the obvious keywords with no results.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

So yeah, lets take a material that is heavier than aluminum, but is much stronger, but wait for it: MACHINE IT TO ALUMINUM DIMENSIONS.

GENIUS.

No wait...

Retards.

They did say it is more of a statement rifle or novelty rifle than anything to be fair but I guess it is or will be for sale to the general public if you have the money?

LOL This will go good with a gold AK or something! ROFL :ar15:

Tacticool level is over 9000.

In all seriousness just imagine how many other guns you could get for 100K.

Atleast that gun wouldn't need any of the coatings that aluminum needs, and looks uber-###y...

And the whole point of the Ti ONE was to draw attention, not mass-produce. Who else has an "all Titanium" AR ?

NEMO is only a 4 hr drive from me too. Hmmm... A new Nissan GT-R, or a titanium AR-10 ?

NEMO is only a 4.5 hr drive from me too. Hmmm... A new Nissan GT-R, or a titanium AR-10 ?

oh come on dont be so cheap by both the titanium ar-10 will accent the gtr nicely. the question is when you walk out of your gtr at a friends house with a titanium AR which one will be talked about more?

It's more or less just to demonstrate machining skills I think. Titanium's not exactly the easiest metal in the world to machine...

Do you guyz realize how hard it is to machine titanium???
HOLY F^@%!
Amazing...
Simpley Amazing!

It's actually not that hard, you just have to go slow. They've put an exaggerated price point on it to do the same thing as machining the titanium 9lb AR does; grab attention. If it costs them a hundred grand to make a titanium AR I'd be concerned about their business, and still at fifty grand.

I have a full titanium, right down to the pins and screws, Model 98 Mauser being made for me right now. It's harder to machine than an AR upper/lower combo, disregarding the handguard/FF rail (no machining magic there either, just time), and has integral Picatinny bridges/mounts, custom over sized drop box mag in full titanium, etc etc and I could have ten of them from the guy who makes Holland & Holland's repeater actions for the price he states in the video. Pure publicity stunt, and good for them, but it's not magic. The fellow making my action replied when asked in how hard it must be to make a true full titanium action (only steel is the springs), to paraphrase, "I hear that a lot, it's actually not. You just can't go fast."

I've only ever turned titanium on the lathe. I run it about the same parameters as cutting stainless steel. It does eat up tooling though, especially drills and endmills. Really depends on the grade as well.

I'm impressed though!

Pffft, titanium, what's the big deal? when an AR is available in all unobtanium construction then i'll be impressed. all kidding aside though, it does look neat but I'll save my money and buy more ammo.

Speeds and Feeds

Not hard to do, but 100k?

Grow an AR receiver from a single-crystal superalloy, then I would be impressed!
(OK, that's a little extreme. But I'm sure someone will do it eventually.)
