I see there are three level III's in Ontario in the span of 5 weeks. Why not spread them out a little ;). The question is.....I want to shoot one of them and with travel from the maritimes and the close timing between them all, one is all I can make. Help me decide which one to shoot. Not being from there makes it hard to pick which one.

which one ???

no disrespect for any of the level 3s this year ... Bernie and the gang in Kingston have a long track record of hosting great level 3s (and 2s)

coming in from the east coast you don't want to be disappointed - I would play the odds

now that being said Waterloo and Barrie also host great matches - both doing at least one level 3 (as per my knowledge) under current leadership.

just my 2 cents

and again no disrespect - I have run an ipsc club for years in the past and know the amount of work and dedication necessary - so I appreciate everyone's efforts when it comes to hosting matches

It takes more then just one person to put on a match of this size. The leader or leaders at a club need the support and hard work of many people. One person does not determine the success of a match. But having someone that knows how to manage peoples strengths and channel those strengths to put on a good match does take talent.

At our club we had almost 20 people directly involved in putting on the match last year and this is before a shot is even fired. I am sure it was no different at the other two. This doesn't group doesn't even include the CRO's/RO's and match staff working on the actual shooting days. All three of these clubs are lucky enough that they can all draw help from a group of experienced and knowledgeable people which will help them to put on a good match. Having this resource to draw upon makes a successful match. Both Barrie and Kingston have hosted many level 3's and multiple Provincial and National Championships and yes it is the same group of people at Waterloo.

I don't think anyone will be disappointed at any of these matches.

didnt mean to undermind the help of others to put on a match - i agree you need help to put a big match together - my point was around leadership and experience - thats all....there are cetain USPSA matches i shoot solely because of the match director as its a given the match will be outstanding because they not only get the help but they know how to run a match...and although it takes a lot of people for success...success starts with stage design and lay out, understanding what stages work on what ranges to ensure smooth squad transitions. squadding numbers and time per stag / range ...just to mention a few.

I agree with gmaneh. I don't think he was knocking anybody's match, he was just offering up what I asked. If a person could only shoot one match, and where the stages are not all posted, based on past history who puts on the best matches. Some people/clubs are known to have better stages, more props, etc. As someone who needs to fly in to shoot a match, I was just looking for a best guess which would be the one to attend. If someone from Ontario asked me which match would be a good one to attend in the maritimes I could and would give my opinion of which I would recommend.

I shoot all Level III matches in Ontario. It is here, don't have to arrange plane tickets, paper work for shooting out of country.
It is the best experience anyone can have shooting Level III, that is a match when a shooter can test his skills against good stages and serious shooters.

thanks bizman89

i travel a lot for IPSC / USPSA .... i shoot about 3-5 area matches, 4 state matches, 10 or so local US matches and the US Nationals most involving air travel ... plus level 3s and 2s in ontario ... but when you have to fly in to shoot you want to feel confident the match will be good.
