So I received a nice canvas gun case for my birthday, and I wanted to store my M14 in it, but it fits fairly snug and the operating handle digs into the padding. I'm afraid it will tear a hole in it pdq.

Anyone else run into similar problems?
How do you store your M14? (if you don't have a safe)

you shouldn't ever use the word "nice" when referring to the m14 et al- i got a nylon drag bag for mine, and that's where it lives- it's padded with foam, and has really heavy duty nylon( like webbing ) both inward and outward- it also has 6 pockets for mags on the outside - take my advice, and use your nice canvas bag for SOMETHING ELSE- or maybe one of the aluminum cases with the waffle foam

I'm using Bulldog Extreme Double Rifle case... Not that expensive. Actually, the shipping to Canada may be almost as much as the cost of the case.

Cheers,
Barney

It is not a good idea to store firearms long term in a padded soft case or hard case with foam. The soft material can hold moisture and cause rust.
Best to buy a cheap steel cabinet.
