Be it prairie dog hunting in Texas, whitetail hunting in Maine or elk hunting in Colorado, the Colt LE901-16S™ is the rifle for the hunt. Chambered in the classic .308 Winchester cartridge, the LE901-16S is the perfect choice for medium to large sized game animals. Exceptional accuracy is assured by its full floated, 16.1” chrome lined barrel and one-piece monolithic upper receiver, suitable for mounting your optic of choice. Keeping the varmint hunter in mind, the .308 Winchester upper receiver group can be easily swapped out for any Mil-Spec Colt upper receiver chambered in 5.56x45 NATO. The fact that all operating controls are ambidextrous, including the magazine release, bolt catch and safety selector, makes for versatility and ease of use. You can depend on the new Colt LE901-16S to take the shot of your lifetime!

I like it. But I think I still prefer my Armalite and LMT. One of the issues is the 16" CL barrel. Especially when shooting 308. You really want a 1:11.25 twist SS barrel for the best accuracy. While you can change uppers the LMT allows you to change barrels. Mine had a 20" SS on it now with the 16 CL having been swapped out.

The Colt looks good and Im sure it's decent. But Im sure it won't be cheap and the accuracy won't be match grade.

Bottom line I think we already have better options available here.

Yeah, really cool looking gun but I really doubt it if you can get one here. Actually been doing some research on the LMT and the Noveske AR's.

Why when we have HKMR308, KAC SR25, LMT, POF to name a few options. I'm sorry but COLT is more name than anything else... It's a nice looking AR but there's even nicer options out there now that are available.

The only thing new to the table other than the colt name is the ability to use the lower for both 5.56/223 and 7.62/308. I think that option sounds better on paper than in reality.

that option is great, BUT you would need to build the .223 upper off of a 7.62 length due to the magazine well adding length to the lower reciever, sure a magwell block similar to what the 9mm conversion is will work great but your limiting yourself to propriatary uppers from "colt" to do the caliber change.

To be honest, that "feature" doesn't really interest me anyways.

Actually - it has an adaptor with it for normal 5.56mm uppers - the converts the lower to take the 5.56mm upper and magwell all at the same time.

It then gives you a big heavy 5.56mm gun, but Colt was asked for it.
