Mossberg 930 Tactical

where did you buy it from?
god knows i dont need another shotgun, but im tempted to mess around with another semi.

although my other semi is a Baikal MP153 so itll have stiff competition in that dept: the MP153 is like the AK47 of the shotgun world :)

does anyone have any photos of the 930 action with the forend removed? very curious as to the piston design - more specifically what action they copied. also whats the break-in period on these before they start to cycle light loads? i had to put nearly 100 shells through my MP153 before it ran on light loads.

purchased from wanstalls. made a quick call there yesterday just confirm they had them in stock before posting here and they still have 2 left.

Finally got around to watching some youtube videos on this.

YIKES.

I want. Screw Tactical 410s- I want a tactical 12ga semi-auto.

EDIT: Ok guys- you ruined me. Where can one of these be had other than Cabelas that has them in stock?

I like my breacher, but it absolutly does not cycle target loads, even after several hundred heavy loads. Kinda dissapointed in that respect, but asside from that, I love it. This thing's built for taking abuse.

+1

Was at the range last week and ran 25 rds of S&B 2 5/8" low recoil slugs, 25 rds of Federal Tactical buck, and 25 rds of Winchester 1145fps #8 shot in various combinations without a hiccup in my 930. Gun has only had about 50 previous rounds through it. Only time I was able to get it to misfeed was shooting some 3" loads from the hip without bracing it against my hipbone.

thats funny you mention that. my only ever problem was also with some 3' loads, carrier would just jam up. only happened a couple times the first day and hasnt happened again.

Hope these pics help.

PS. It's got no problems with heavy loads at all, it's just the light loads that don't cycle. Maybe I just need to shoot it more?

That's for the info (and pics).

So do you guys, who are having cycling issues, think the breacher is the culprit?

There's a large spring that is in the gas port portion of the barel. These shottys were manufactured with different strengths of springs and marked by color. Some were stiffer than others and could be the reasoning behind my failure to cycle with light losds. If I'm wrong about this, someone please feel free to correct me, but this is the way I understood it when I checked into it. Too bad I only found out it after I already purchased it. Now I want a 590A1 for my next 3 gunner.

This may be too simplistic a view on this but couldn't you just change our your springs for ones more suited to your needs?

I suppose I could, but I have a couple concerns with it that need to be addressed, and not too sure where to get another spring, other than the factory, if they're even available. It's almost worthy of another thread in itself.

I ordered my home security model from WSS a couple months back fir $459.00, was in within a week. Added the +2 extension (blocked of course) and after completely stripping it and cleaning and oiling runs like a Swiss watch. Just went out and ran 50 rounds 2.75 slugs without an issue. A little heavy, but it's my main hiking shotgun. 6+1+1 ghost load for 8 capacity. When hiking it's 6 in the mag. 25 yards with a bead sight I can put slugs in a 4 inch group. That's all I want for a bear slugger.

hmm... newb question... so 6 in the mag in a semi auto non restricted shotgun with one in the chamber allready is legal? i thought that it was 5, or is it a shotgun regulation? pretty sure that all the benelli m4's are 5+1, wheather they are the restricted or non restricted models

First hand experience. The 1-1/8 ounce target load cycles just fine in the 930. It is the 1 ounce target load youll have issues with. I did a standard disassemble and clean and it was fine. 250 shells later it cycles fine. The combo is nice as you get the second barrel. For $599 you can't beat it. Gas piston gets very dirty after 250 shells of target load.

The 935 has issues with both during break in period from everything I have read.

Do not hold me to this but I believe the shotgun is allowed to hold 5+1 for what is is max chambered for. So 3" shells. I think with his mag tube partially blocked for 3" shells he is able to squeeze one extra in there?

well, my shotgun has a 3 inch chamber (rem 870) and its factory magazine says it fits 6 and it only fits 6 rounds of 2 3/4", or 5 rounds of 3" rounds plus one 2 3/4" round... cant get 6 3 inch rounds in there
