Picatinny Rail for Brno Rifles

Ok. So I have a couple Brno rimfires (Mod 2 and Mod 4) and I'd like to have a single high quality scope to use between them and my other rifles.

Best way of mounting it (IMHO) is using Warne Quick Detach rings on a Picatinny rail. This should be pretty universal and allow easy removal of scope and transfer between rifles as desired.

Problem is nobody makes an adaptor rail that fits on the 16mm dovetail on the Brno rifles. There are a bunch of places that make them for the 11mm of the CZ rifles (DIP, US Optics, EGW), but nothing for 16mm.

So I set out to design my own. Here's some pictures from Autodesk Inventor:

So, this unit will clamp right onto the Brno dovetails (no drilling or tapping) and is 5.25" long and sits 0.6" high above the receiver. It'll use M2x0.4 socket head cap screws (allen keys) to tighten the full length of the receiver.

I've been looking around to get a few of these built out of steel (but may end up being anodized aluminum) and I'm wondering if anybody else would be interested in one.

If I can get 50 people who want one, I could get the price down to approximately $80 each.

Anybody interested or know of any other fabrication shops that might be interested in building these for me?

PM me if you're interested in one or post if you had any comments!

Cheers!

Hey,

You may want to contact Jeff at : ht tp: //www.mwerksllc.com/

Jeff already made for me a custom base with target blocks to attach on a BRNO #4 ;)

It allows for the use of a Unertl external adjustment scope on the #4 w/o having to drill and tap receiver of this nice rifle.

I had a DLASK design that slipped onto the 11 mm dovetail with set screws which froze the Picatinny to the top of the action. It went with the rifle in a trade to "ramhunter"

Difference is the clamp onto the dovetails vs set screws to pull the rail up against the dovetail. While the set screw method works, it's limited in terms of contact surface force and can mark up the receiver. That's why I've gone with the clamp on method.

Thanks for the comments so far to date however!

They won't ship to Canada. I figure it's about time we started to build and buy Canadian instead of hoping to get stuff out of the US.

If you can actually get the top section to flex enough to make the clamping action work, which is highly unlikely, the top section will distort enough to prevent installation of scope rings or other accessories that are in spec.

The clamping part that is threaded should be a separate component.

I love CZ rifles. Although, I do wish they came with Weaver or Picatinny grooves machined into the top of the receiver in the first place.:(

That being said, the lowest profile you can give your mount the better.

I would think they are machined fairly tight, the set screws from the sides will have ample clamping power for a 22 LR..EGWs are made the same way I think. Anyone have an EGW base?

Thanks for all the comments, guys. Keep them coming.

I am working with some machining contacts at present, but appreciate the offer.

I've modified the design to be able to pry open the jaws like BKL rings do to fit over the variable spec of rails that are out there.

Any other comments or suggestions are more than welcome! Including other rifles that you'd like to see a rail like this developed for.
