Looking to pick up my first SKS. Lever has a couple of deals that distinguish their rifles....shooter grade and collector grade. There are also a couple of deals that have no 'grade'.

Anyone purchase a shooter grade or collector grade SKS from Lever that's willing to share this info?

I've seen several SKS from Lever and they were both in great shape. I don't think they were specifying grades at that time. I suspect shooter grade will be just fine.

Depending on the price at lever, consider Tradeex, just got another shipment in best price $369. with a 1000 rnds surplus and free shipping!!

All I can say is get the collector grade.. shoot and enjoy it. keep it nice looking and can always sell as a collector grade when the price goes up, and you need an extra 10 bucks profit in youre pocket.:p

At one time Lever would sell all their Russian SKS's for the same price $199.50 did not matter what type of stock it had or what it looked like, you picked the one that looked good to you. Then they got on the same band wagon as the other local dealers with the catch words like Quality Collector grade SKS's for the extra $50.00. Levers SKS's are all refurb, just some look better than others. The magazines are all frankenpined to 5 rounds which destroys the botton of the mag and will have to be repaired over time.

I bought a laminated 1950 Tula from them 3 years ago, and it cost $199 plus tax. I agree, they have just found a way to squeeze more $ out of customers. I don't care what they claim, ALL of their SKS's are refurbed.....
