Hello,

I just replaced the recoil spring in my norc np29 and after 2 shots the barrel link broke!
Is there some sort of connection between the two..or just a coincidence?

Also, are barrel links the same size for a 9mm and 45 acp?? I have to get a new one...so want to make sure its the right size.

Thanks in advance!

The links are the same for 9mm or .45ACP.

The links come in different lengths however. Generally speaking, the correct length of link for the gun must be fitted.

Correct link is very important in the proper lock-up of barrel to slide.

I just had a brand new NP 29 apart (9 mm)

it had a too short of barrel link in it (it was .268) and the standard link fixed a lot of problems

it also had problems with the Extractor not being fitted correctly
if the rim did not slide in the slot for the rim and PUSHED the round into the chamber if you hit the back of the slide (to push extractor over the rim) it did nothing but jammed the slide open that last 1/8 inch

where did you get your replacement?

FWIW.;)

The 1911 extractor is not designed to ride over the rim of the cartridge.

Single loading a cartridge into the chamber, and then letting the slide smack into the head of the case. Is a jam waiting to happen and maybe a broken extractor claw.

The lower part of the extractor claw usually benefits from a careful shaping and smoothing.

Barrel link is a loan from a Spare parts kit

if any one has new barrel links send me a email

also looking name brand 9mm extractor

Hint
if you have a high round count 1911 and go to the trouble to replace a worn barrel link get a new barrel link pin to go with it

You have to understand the 1911 to start replacing parts

I know this.

But it has to work both ways, to be 100 % reliable

and if happens with the first round of a new gun you have to shape it or replace it
