Franchi?

Franchi has been making alloy receivered O/U's for a long time . A former hunting partner had the Alcione which worked well as a field gun. I have read where many say it will not hold up to competition shooting but never heard a first hand account of one wearing out. I recently purchased a Renaissance which is the predecessor of the Instinct SL and so far I am pleased with it especially once I replaced the funky recoil pad with a decellerator so the gun fit me. :)

I had a chance to try the new case colored version out two weeks ago -- fitted me well -- broke clays well and the finish/fit was as per usual for Franchi (no issues). However the issue was that it was uncommonly tight and took some effort to open the gun to reload -- also the trigger was very sensitive on the 2nd shot in that if you did not completely take your finger off the trigger on a double, it would not fire. If you do a search for reviews/issues, this is not a uncommon issue.

I have a Franchi Veloce in 28 gauge, I have had it for about 4 years now and put about 5000 rounds through it and it is holding up no troubles at all. I like the Franchi's, they fit me well and are a good value for the performance you get and the money spent.

I say have at it!

I picked up a 20ga instinct l today at a local shop very nice fit and finish and shoulders beautifully.case colored tiger striped reciever with nice blueing on the barrels.I may have to add it to the safe.price was just a bit over $ 1100.00 .looked to be a good gun for the price.

I just bought that exact same gun today! really nice gun they have a special at the le baron stores right now and i got $100 off. When you shoulder the gun you just have to buy it. its about 6lbs and i think it is a very good choice for a upland or clay gun. This is my first O/U shotgun and i am very happy with it!:dancingbanana:

Ive been thinking about getting myself a browning or beretta O/U shotgun, and have been really thinking about one of those Franchi shotguns also (lebaron's also). Its about half the price of a Browning, and to me, the fit & finish, and quality seems very comparable. Ive heard that a Franchi is'nt in the same league as one of the "B" guns, and won't hold up to thousands of rounds from skeet, over the years, and won't be as tight several years down the road.........but when I hold the new Franchi, I start to think that the reason why a "B" owner would say that, is because of brand loyalty, because the Franchi seems to be just as well made as a "B", and just as tight (or more).

I'm anxious to hear from any Franchi owners who have put a few thousand rounds or more through the gun, and give a update on well its holding up, and if its just as tight as a similar round count "B" gun.

Franchi is owned by one of the B guns--Beretta. You might think the quality is the same but it is not. It is the same as many of the tool companies that offer a lower line brand of tools. There are differences. Not saying the Franchi isn't a good gun. I know people who have them. But they are not quite the same sandard as the B guns. But again, what are we talking here for volume in a year as far as clay shooting.
