I am new to 1911s and I am not getting why Marstar has Colt and Norinco mags for half the price of other places.

Are they cursed or radioactive or something?

If this is some huge revelation don't buy up all the mags and leave me hanging.

Seriously, I am sensitive and that would really make me feel unvalidated or whatever passes for being a pussy these days.

Thanks

They are not the best mags you can get by a long shot... Since I'm only punching paper and not trusting my life to them, the Norc mags work just fine in my Norc pistol...

I did have to tweak the followers a bit to ensure they pushed up the slide stop and to prevent them from slipping under it and becoming hard to remove... For the price I'm happy with them. If you wanted pure reliability for competition or such you might want to look at a better quality mag... For casual range days they are fine...

Like the Norinco pistols, the mags are basically good, but can be improved a lot with some work, and are cheap enough to experiment with.

I took my mags apart, cleaned them thoroughly, deburred the witness holes in the mag bodies and deburred and polished the sides of the followers. BIG improvement in function. As buddy Milton says, you may have to tweak the followers to get them hitting the slide stop properly [mine were okay from the start].

If you want a bunch of mags for casual shooting it's not a bad way to go. For more serious shooting, I like the Mec-Gar 8-rounders.

Kind of misleading, they list them as Colt for eg. but the mags are aftermarket. Colt does not make 10rd mags but they have some listed on thei website. It also says on their website that most of the mags are aftermarket. If you're looking for original brand name Colt mags, get them from Brownell's, they ship to Canada.

After hearing how critical the mag is to 1911 function, I was seriously surprised to find that the stock 7-rd mags that came with my Norinco 1911 worked flawlessly with no modification whatsoever. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed by this, as I thought I was being clever by getting Chip McCormick Power Mags right off the bat. They're not nearly as attractive or as nice to handle or as easy to load as the Power Mags, but I can't argue with 100% reliability. Can't speak to long-term durability yet (around 1000rds so far), but I wouldn't be surprised if they proved to be another Chinese-production sleeper product.

Try em, and if they don't work in your 1911 you should have no problem reselling them to someone with a 1911 that happens to like them.

BTW, last I heard, Dlask Arms (in Delta, BC) had some very highly-rated 1911 mags on the economical side, too, don't rule them out. Euro manufacture 8-rd blued for $20, iirc.

One word of caution about Marstar;

Sometimes their shipping and handling charges are completely outrageous.

Make sure you verify the shipping charges up front before ordering.
Lots of people have been unpleasantly surprised.

These mags are 17.99 from Wolverine. They work fantastic.

Hmm, I could not get those 8 round Dlask Act mags to function reliably in my STI Spartan. Springs are incredibly stiff even after I clipped off 1 loop of the spring. The front end of the follower wants to tilt down on the first round and jamb it into the feeding path.

I have bought the Mecgar mags from Marstar for both my NP-29 (9mm 1911) and NP-34 (SIG P228 clone). They have all functioned 100% for me with no problems at all. No outrageous shipping, either.

I have half a dozen of these and they are 100% for me in both a Norc 1911C and a Colt Gold Cup.

They work in my Norc Sport with no problems at all.

+1.
