Picked up my new R1 1911 today. The fit and finish is really nice. Not to shiny without unnecessary serrations and engravings on the slide and frame. There are no scratches or any unfinished edges and machining marks. It looks nice and feels durable. I also like the old school GI style hammer and grip safety, just like the original a 100 years ago. I'll try and get out to the range with it this week to see if it shoots as good as it looks.

I have the R1 enhanced and it's a very nice pistol. I can hit an 8x8 steel plate with it at 50 yards so I imagine yours can do the very same. Fit and finish on these pistols is fantastic, minus the fact I put an idiot scratch on it disassembling it for the first time. Good purchase!

Have they corrected the ejector on the frame fit to the cut in the slide fit? [As seen from the back with the slide sitting home on the frame & hammer in down position].
On the few examples I've seen they've had a sloppy fit of that. Enough so that I've avoided buying one. IMHO, for the price point they certainly could've done a better job in that area.

I'm pretty sure that was one of the issues fixed in early 2011, after the initial release. There is nothing wrong with the newer once.
Interested to see a pic.... if it's good I might just consider getting one myself.

Well, it looks like they still haven't fixed the sloppy fit of the ejector as it appears as seen from the back of the slide to the left of where the hammer strikes the firing pin stop.
For the pice point, it should be a nice flush fit, just like the back of extractor sits flush with the back of the slide, as seen to the right of where the hammer strikes the firing pin stop.
The pic above shows clearing the difference on how the fit of the two parts, as seen from the rear of the pistol.
Too bad, I would've expected more from Remington on reintroducing their 1911 pistol [They made some contract 1911's for the military in WWI..... The WWII "Remington" 1911A1's were actually made by Remington-Rand, a business machine company].

No, likely performance-wise it is fine. It's just a cosmetic blemish to an otherwise very nice looking 1911A1 in the current crop.
It just pisses me off that they took such time to give this pistol such nice lines, finish, grips, hi-viz dot sights etc and then to drop the ball with the fitting of such a minor part.
I could live with it, but eventually I'd have to fit one or get one properly fitted to it.....
