Hello

I called the local gun shop today for some surplus and was told they just got some Russian surplus in. When I went to pick it up it was Chinese. 720 rounds in 20 round paper packages packed in a sealed tin can, green paint around the edge. Has the year 1966 on the can with 7.62, 0020-61-2/1 60/65 25 on it. Copper casings.

Any info?

It may be corrosive, someone on here correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Chinese switched over to Non-Corrosive in the early 70's.

Either way, I'm sure it's fine to shoot.

That old, I think it will be corrosive. I'd clean my rifles like it was, that's for sure.

Other than that, what do you want to know? I doubt it'll shoot too much differently than other x39 surplus, and I'd be very surprised if it didn't function properly. I think I've had five misfires in over 4000 rounds of 7.62x39 surplus, in many different flavours and vintages, including Chinese. I'm sure it'll go bang.

Can you post pics? I'm thinking they may be copper washed steel cases, a magnet will confirm.
