Crooked CASM mount?

I've installed the CASM mount a few weeks ago and just only put an optic now. It's very apparent that the mount is crooked. I'm not sure if this is the receiver or the mount itself. I can see it leaning to the left on the muzzle end.

How should I approach correcting this?

Right. Sorry about that. Forgot about pictures. I emailed m14.ca about it but haven't heard back yet.

Sorry if these aren't the best pictures. Also, don't mind the missing screw on the front sight, I was just in the middle of aligning it to the center as it came from the factory all the way to the right.

I had the same problem, i returned it and the new one was alined correctly. I used a three foot section of round stock laid into the grove on top of the mount to confirm that it was not in line with the barrel. After a lot measuring I believe that the mount's base and rail were misaligned by about .300 of an inch over the length of the rail. This was a pretty large difference at the end of the rod stock as the rod was a full diameter offset from the barrel. Warranty was fast and I have had no problems with the replacement mount.

That's not possible. :) My email is checked every 20 minutes 8am to 8pm daily. When did you send it? My direct email is info@m14.ca Call me at 250 721 3444. I will replace that mount immediately if it is not machined to specification. I have sold over 530 CASM scope mounts in the US and Canada and I continue to sell them daily. I don't have an explanation for this out of spec. mount if that is what it is, however, I would like to see it in my hands as soon as possible. Please set that up with me via tel. or email at your earliest convenience. Thank-you. Frank.

Ah, sorry. My email probably didn't send and is probably still sitting in the draft box. I suspect it's the receiver and not the mount. I'll have to find the right sized hex key and get it off of the rifle. I'll email you when I'm about to send it back. Thanks so much.

I had the same problem on my norc . the machining of the sight pocket was not centered. so the mount was corked to the left . the problem was in the very front of the sight pocket. I moved my casm mount to my M1A it worked perfect . i did get it to work on my norc with a little tuning

Yeah, that looks to be the case. On mine, the very front left of that pocket isn't correct and it looks like the mount is dipping into it.

May I ask how you resolved your problem? At the moment, I'm shimming it.

It is very rare that the CASM mount will not fit an M14/M1A/M305 reciever. So far, we have witnessed seating issues with only .377% (point 377 percent) of our sample group of 530 mounts in service. In all "three" cases, I assure you that the CASM mount can be made to fit with very little modification. Call me direct if there is a concern: 250 721 3444.

Thank-you,

I was scratchin my head when this thread came up. I've installed around a dozen of the casm mounts and did not encounter any alignment issues. These were mostly on pre 2009 import rifles and one M1A loaded. I have been witnessing many irregularities with the newer batches of m14/m305's that have not been seen on rifles from early 90's to 2009 import batches. Strange or incomplete machining as well as significant weld evidence is appearing on some of the newer rifles. Conditions like these will absolutely affect the installation of some accessories.

And that's why I wonder  which Zhinese High School put your M14 / M305 together on Monday....

Good to know Frank is on top of things with the CASM mount! (Pun intended) :D

Cheers,
Barney

My norc is a 2009 . Believe me i was getting frustrated with trying to make it work . Until I actually looked closely at my receiver and discovered the machining was out of square .
