Hello folks. I have a very mint Marlin #60 I want to put on the exchange and would like to know what its worth. Its a stainless model with a laminated stock. I think maybe a box or two has been fired out of it.

Cheers all! Steve.

They go for $250 new at wholesale sports. So maybe $350 in the EE? Or more like $200 plus shipping in real life...

In terms of value they are one of the best buys out there, and that makes resale almost not worth it. I traded mine instead of selling it, and got a 1954 Irish contract lee enfield no 4 mkII in great condition. I think I got the better deal in terms of value but we were both happy with the trade, considering we were both looking for keepers, not for profits.

That sounds about right. I think I'll:D see if I can get $599 for it....

Cheers! Steve.

Actually they are $209 at WSS.

I was in the market for a 60ss and it is still listed as 259.99 at WSS. Is there some kind of sale not advertised in store or online at the moment? The guys in Winnipeg didn't have one and weren't sure how long it would be to get one. I called a guy in Regina and he ordered it in and shipped it to me all within a week. Great service on his end. I am impressed with it so far and will have it out shooting soon. Once the op sells his if anyone is looking for another one PM me and I'm sure if you go to the guy I contacted he'd get it for you quickly too.

You are right about the fact that it's stainless not blued, the blued walnut laminate ones are $159 wheras the 60SB is $209. My bad.

HOWEVER, Read the OP more closely... he is selling a 60SS, not a 60SB

Ah yes, I see the title.

Just curious, why does Marlin charge an extra $50 for blck/grey laminate vs walnut laminate? Doesn't make much sense to me.

The SB wears a laminated Birch stock and has the cheap plastic buttpad and no sling swivels... the SS is slightly more accessorized with a really nice cushioned buttpad and nickle plated sling swivel studs. Also i dont doubt the color layering of the laminates add to the cost a bit.

1899 they probably charge extra because they new that the laminate stainless look is something I felt I needed!

I didn't see any SB's but wasn't crazy about the other plain walnut stocks compared to their laminates.

That... and the color layering, Better rubber buttpad vs cheapo plastic one, and the nickle plated sling swivel studs.

To spread out the punishing recoil of the CCI Velocitors!:p

Having owned a 60SS and a 795 with the cheapo buttpad, i can say the rubber one on the SS was much much nicer. The guns with the cheap plastic ones slip around too easily on the shoulder, and when the gun is stood up in a corner etc, plus they can crack. The rubber one grips the shoulder really well and stays put when you stand it up against a wall. Just has a more quality feel to it overall.

Marlins are junk .22's (insert really loud guffaw here) and, what you paid does not demonstrate it's "market value"

I'll pay the shipping, and take it off your hands!

Seriously, they are a tough nut for EE pricing...I replied within 15 minutes of a posting for a glenfield/Marlin 60 last weekend, and was waaaaaaay too late. It was at 150. I think another one snuck through since, for aprox the same. SS is worth more than a base 60, and those moved fast!

As anything in "real life", you know what your own bottom line is. EE postings must have a price, or trade in the ad.Some will offer less. No has ever offered me more.

They truly are marvy .22's!
