270 wsm, 500 yrds, 3/8 Cast Iron Plate, Trophy Bonded Bear Claws

nice shooting, i just recently went long range(500 yards) with my budget hunting rifle. stevens 200 with bushnell 3200. i was pretty happy hitting an 12 by 18 inch steel plate. for 500 bucks all together and using some win whitebox 147 gr fmj, im happy with it. yes i will admit i didnt hit is every time lol. 7 out of 10.

I could not believe the damage done at 400 yards with 130 grain 270 wsm.Shot at a 1 inch thick by 10 inch round blank. The 270 wsm 130 grainer, left a bubble on the back side of the gong.150 grain 308 hardly marked the shooting side of the gong.Would not have thought that at all.

dont look like 500yrds from the camera view. i would be alot more twitchey zoomed in that much at 500yrds. maby its just me. nice shooting either way

Something isn't right there, hits too fast and sound of the hit is too quick for 500 yds, more like 100-200 to me.

Why can't the cameraman keep the camera isolated from the recoil?

Something don't add up.

I tend to agree with you. Maybe there was a misprint and the person ment 500 feet.

I love it when the smart crowd shows up.

The camera is on the bench I was shooting from....the gun blast threw it off.
I was trying to hold it steady when Dad shot at the keg, but I was too close to him and would flinch.

I'll throw up another video after the weekend with a full view and lazered distance....

;)

FWIW, I have seen the audio get all fuxored when shooting. The video does seem odd like others have mentioned, but one of 2 things happened here:
- the audio was pooched, or
- the shooter has done this before given the close first round hit.

Of course, in person, 1.2.3.4..5..6 should work for range estimation.

The only thing I know for sure is that I would sure like to have access to play area like that again rather than be vicariously watching "boom ping" videos..

the video below is 400 yrds shooting a bullet moving around 2700 at the muzzle.

look at the shot taken at 4:05...the hit almost looks instantaneous with the sound. in fact, the reality is that the hit is long before you hear the sound and resulting ding is almost sound instaneous as well...this was when I learned cast iron frying pans were no good for gongs ...lol
