Rookie question so I thought I best ask here. Please don't laugh at me. :p

So say I want to buy ammunition at a place like WSS (yeah, i know I know :p) Do I just walk down the ammunition isle, pick out what I want, go the cashier, show my PAL, pay and walk out?

I'm sure it is just that simple, I just have too much pride to make myself look like a dumbass if I am doing it wrong.

Thanks so much for the help!

Depends on the store. Some stores (those here in Nova Scotia) keep the ammo either in a cage or behind glass and you have to ask someone to open it up and dig out what you what. They'll ask to see your PAL, don't record anything, and typically walk the ammo to the front cashier for you.

In Ontario, provincial legislation requires the store to record your PAL details, perhaps even more data than that.

When in doubt, ask a sales rep at your store of choice.

I think that stores that keep ammo behind the counter are missing out. The manufacturers put this invisible glue on the boxes. When the ammo is on the shelf where you can get your hands on it, the invisible glue makes it difficult to put down once you pick it up. The only release agent is an invisible force field that is only effective for a 3 foot radius around the cash register.:p

Some stores have it right.:)

WSS has all the ammo behind the counter except for shotgun shells.
Cabela's has some stock for rifle out on the shelves.
You'll show your PAL to the cashier.

I'm pretty sure the one here in Edmonton has some ammo out on the floor but I honestly can't rremember if it's just reloading components or not. I don't shop there much at the moment as they want a PAL for everything.

A good rule of thumb is that if the ammo is on the sales floor you can grab it, flash your PAL, pay and go. If the ammo is behind the counter or in a cage or something then chances are that store policy would require you to show your PAL before they get it out. I'm probably wrong here, but as long as you've got your card handy you should do okay.
