I picked up several brass artillery cases from the scrap yard today and was wondering if they have any value over the price of brass. The biggest one is 4 inches in diameter and 28 1/2 inches long,I include a picture of the base of it with the markings.
The second biggest is a 3 inch anti aircraft casing MK7 dated 1955 which was apparently used in Korea from Canadian ships. (I had a thread quite a while back on the same casing).
The two smaller ones are about 3 inches in diameter (175 MM ) and 9 inches in length. One of them is marked Jul 1 1915 as well as Dusseldorf.
The other small one is marked PATRONENFABRIK KARLSRUHE MRZ 1916
I am guessing these two are German WW1 shell casings.
Here are a couple of pictures:

That is quite the project,it is good to see someone preserving history for future generations.
I am going to keep the big one (4 inch) but I have 4 of the 1955 Korean 3 inch anti-aircraft cases (23 inches long) and only need to keep one of the two 1915-1916 German cases. So does anyone know what these might be worth as I am willing to let 3 of the Korean and 1 of the German cases go to new homes????

That's a really old SIN. Mine is 4M higher and I got it in Vancouver just shortly after the damn things came out. Original issuant might not still be this side of the grass: I have been on the OAP for over 2 years myself.

Jerry cases likely will be for the 77mm fieldpiece, their equivalent to our 18-pdr. I have one from Karsruhe, didn't know they had a plant in Dusseldorf as well. Interesting!

Which case has the other bottom you showed?
.

Are you ever lucky to find those in the scrapyard. All I seem to find in my local scrapyard is the parts to the guns but never any brass..

Now there's oneupmanship!:D

Is that from the place with all the Land Rovers?

I wonder who else noticed that? Peccavi! ;)

That must be some sort of reinforcing to the primer socket on the 105 blank? We've got an ex-ammo tech on board don't we?
