Canadian Infantry in battle with the 12th SS

All of the apologists for these SS douchebags need to read more accounts like this. " You bombed Germany", haha. Well, you started it. I have spoken to vets and read enough accounts like this that I have NO sympathy for anything that happened to Germany or Germans in WW2.

I agree. The SS were volunteers who had bought into the ideology and swore personal oaths to Hitler. I have no problem with continuing to hunt these vermin down even if they are 91 years old.

I actually read that french canadian where the worst for killing POW or actually... just before they were!

Watch out, some on here hate when you point out the victor committed war crimes themselves.

At the start but in the late war years the SS was conscript just like the Wehrmacht.

That may be so but this argument has been used by some revisionists to try to rehabilitate the SS image. Regardless of conscription or not, the SS, the Waffen SS and any other SS sub-units were part of the extermination camp system and the wholesale murder of civilians. This evil institution and the evil men who belonged to it have my contempt and condemnation. If there is a hell, they are burning in it.

Chilling.

It's a hard thing to fathome; how a whole society could allow themselves to end up the way the germans did.

I just picked up a book about what the german people went through during the reign of the Nazi's. I look forward to reading it and getting some insight on how it was in Germany before and during the war.

My Father's Country is probably the best book on that subject I ever read. Written by the daughter of one of the Valkyrie conspirators covering her family from pre WW1 to post WW2. Awesome book.

I'm neither a revisionist or trying to 'rehab' the image of the SS, however there were many fighting divisions that had nothing to do with the camp butchers .
This was discussed a while back, so I'm not going to get into it, but I suggest reading a bit further about it.

I understand that. Because the SS were involved in the death camp system, because for the most part they were volunteer fanatics, the SS name has no honour and will be remembered as a criminal organization composed of cowards and psychopaths. There may be a few individuals who did not fit this description but they wore a badge of shame and share in the collective guilt of their organization's repugnant history. Willful blindness is no excuse.

That goes both ways. Lumping the Waffen-SS, Allgemeine SS and SS-TV into one pot is the same thing.

Doing so lead to many Allied war crimes such as the execution of wounded SS soldiers, doctors and surrendered prisoners at Dachau after the liberation.

I would have had no problem summarily executing SS. They did the same thing to British prisoners of war from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and the Cheshire Regiment in 1940. And these were SS Liebstandarte. Scum, all of them.

Reverse that and I'll sort of agree. Most volunteered for the SS because they were the 'elite' of the time. Then you had the fanatical Nazis who had no quams about shooting unarmed POWs.

Acceptable use of ammo. :ar15:

Huh?

Invading Poland... with whom Britain had a mutual defense treaty .. was not starting the war?

Germany Expected war with Europe, demanded it in fact.

ain't revisionist history fun!

Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland together, Britain only declares war on Germany which began WW2...

This isn't revision of history, this is actual fact.

It really begs the question, if Britain has a pact protecting Poland, why would it only apply to a German invasion and not Soviet invasion? Britain specifically started this war on Germany, looking for any excuse. The blood truly is on the hands of Britain... And adding insult to injury, Britain allows Poland to be Soviet controlled after the war, so what exactly was Britain trying to accomplish here? World War.
