Hi,

I'm looking for a scope in the 250-350$ area, for deer hunting in the west. Right now, I could get any of the 3 scopes below. What would be your choice and why? Should I consider other models for the same price?

Millett buck gold 4-16 x 56 293$
Nikon Buckmaster 4,5-14 x 40 290$
Redfield revolution 4-12 X 40 250$

Thanks!

I've heard, and read nothing but good things about the Redfields. They are basically made by Leupold now, which means they are made in the US, and carry a life time warranty.
Which is a whole lot better than being made and assembled in several third world countries before reaching Canada.

My vote would be the Redfield of the three.

Hi Crashman,

What do you think about the scopes I mentioned?

Anybody could help a little?

Thanks

I only have personal experience with Nikon, I had a Buckmaster ( I think that was the model!) in a mid range magnification and it was a decent scope, no troubles at all.

Redfield is made by Leupold, although made off shore now from I have heard (but I don't think that is a bad thing). I would think they are good just due to their Leupold ownership.

first scope i had was a buckmaster, thought it was okay till I looked through a nikon Monarch, buckmaster was low end, had a millet, fogged up. Now own swarovski, leupold, sightron and minox
If your going to buy low end optics never look through high end it will ruin your bank account. Go with lifetime warranty at the least and that leaves Redfield, have heard respectable things about them.
Would never rely on a Vortex after all the issues I,ve read,. Owned 2 sold both, decent glass though

Iwing,

Do you know what's the warranty of Nikon. Don't know why but I think I might prefer Nikon over Redfield (AO and little extra magnification...)

In the same range, would you consider another one also?

Thanks,

I have a Redfield 4-12x40, I don't dislike it but I slightly prefer my Bushnells [3200s,6500] and my Scorpion. You should be able to do a little better on the Redfield price.

Yesterday I bought a Redfield Revenge with the accu-range. Its a beautiful scope and if the accu-range works like it shows....should be an awesome scope! Likely cheaper else where, but I paid $380 taxes in for the 6x18x44mm. Still need to sight it in once it quits raining here.

Hi darcy,

I'm impatient to see the results and your impressions. I don't understand why AO is not available with the revolution while it is with the revenge (cheaper than the revolution)...

Any comments from other user already shooting with the Redfield Revenge?

Thanks,

Going this morning to site it in. Then try some long range stuff.

Sighted my Redfield Revenge today! What a beautiful scope. Sighted in for 200 yards. Didn`t have the range for anything farther out. I did stop and try the Accu-range option on a 2ft diameter rock in a field. It showed it to be 250 yards out. Grabbed my range finder and sure enough, it was 249 yards. This will be a very nice option to have for all the times a guy doesn`t have the time to use a range finder, then grab the gun.
