According to some here, I should be able to ask about 2500 for my refurbished VAR barrelled Springfield made M1 rifle.

Don't laugh - someone just posted a VAR rebarelled SA for $2800, but it includes a $50 shortened bayonet... some people's kids. And no, it's not an M1D sniper - just a regular rifle.

Well south of the border that looks like the condition grade the CMP sells for around $650 (US) which the typical vendor at a gunshow will try to get $1000-1200 for

Truth is, 2 years ago, this H&R would have been $500 at P&S when the Saudi imports were available. Now though they have gone stupid again until the next small import hits Canada. Then the average price will drop to about $600 for a while as it always does when supply matches demand.

None of them are selling at that price, I note. The ones that ARE selling are $1000 or less.

I too have been wondering what the hell is going on with Garand prices lately. Honeslty fellas not every Garand out there is worth 1200-2500. Shake your heads a little.

Just an update, I sold the Garand to a guy for 900.00 he was super happy to get it he said he had been chasing one for a couple years. he didnt care if the numbers matched, or what all the tolerances were, just wanted a real one to shoot. Not trying to be sassy, but just pointing out they don't make em any more.

I just sold mine in April... It might have been in a little better condition than yours but not much as long as all your internal parts are in good condition. Anyway sold mine for $900

Numbers matching is such a moot point with the Garand. Who cares as long as the thing works?
