Good link, I was looking on EE yesterday and Im pretty sure their was a fake one with a real Eotech (like) price. I assumed it was fake given the fact that it changed colours and Eotech website specs have no mention of that feature. Didn't stumble on the warning link though.

Appears that he got deleted and I wonder if he /she was banned. I scribbled the user name somewhere Im sure.

Maybe they should. Green dots can be easiler to see in a lot of the brighter conditions.
You can take that up with Aimpoint and/or EOTech.

The reason I posted these links is to inform people that there are counterfeit sights made, and they may show up on the EE.

Like SCRAM said there was one there yesterday with no mention of it not being a genuine EOTech.

Some people who sell the knock-offs are themselves completely unaware of a real vs fake Eotech. However, there are those that 100% know they have a fake, and were either misinformed of their original purchase and are reselling, or bought the fake for the purpose to sell. Regardless, there are fakes, and the major give-away is the green reticle. I will also say, it is really quite hard to take a photo of the reticle and see the difference between a real vs fake, unless you are looking through the scope itself, since the Eotech's have a pixelated reticle which tends to look a little fuzzy -- since in photos it looks almost perfect.

I bought one knowing it must be fake because of the price.
($125)
Turned out to be a pile of crap. The screws backed out when I tried to get the reticle to line up with BUIS.
I got it for my SR22.
Paper weight.
Don't bother.

Sometimes they can be pretty convincing.

My recommendations:
  • If it looks too good to be true.... it is
  • don't buy expensive kit from people with a trader of 0.
  • if in doubt. communicate. if you don't like the answers move on.
  • Personally, I give my buyers a reasonable return policy. I doubt anyone here on CGN is out to screw a fellow member..

Well great, I am now the proud owner of 2 fakes. Great. I had no idea. I just a bit pissed but I guess I should have known for the price but I thought I was getting a good deal and the wear on them made them seem legit.

I have seen some fake ACOG scopes on eBay and I was just wondering if anyone has one or knows how they perform. I could barely pay for one of those let alone 10x the price for a real Trijicon. Might be an economic alternative if they perform well.

If you really wanted an alternative to the ACOG, there is the Bushnell Trophy 1x and 2x MP series Red Dots... I'd get one of those well before knowingly ordering a fake Trijicon

I just got my Aimpoint M2 varified as authentic via serial number.
I then asked the Aimpoint representative how they can tell if a counterfeiter uses the same serial number.
No response yet.

I also asked about my 3X Magnifier. According to the Representative at Aimpoint, all 3X Magnifiers have serial numbers at the bottom. Apparently, they have not encountered knock offs with serial numbers so far.

TRich, I have an NC star red dot sight on one of my rugers. I love it, very affordable and has no issues. If your looking for something simple and affordable for a .22 or something you don't plan on shooting farther then 100 yards, NC Star is a good choice in my opinion
