SKS: PRC vs USSR

Hmmmm. Seems like the number of Russian SKSs in the world is about to get smaller. Wonder if this will change demand for them.

Good God! I only have 3 now. I don't think this will put a serious dent in the volume that's out there. I would bet they are just getting rid of the junk. I hope. I also hope they sell a few more M38s and 44s befor they get rid of them.

I doubt that any of us will live to see a day where SKS's are worth much more than 300 bucks in 2012 dollars regardless of Russian/Chinese, refurb/non etc.

Sure probably not a lot more, in Canada. A few years ago Soviet ones were worth more, particularly non-refurbs. I still see non-refurbs and rarities for more than $300. A refurbed 49 just sold in the EE for $400 a week or so ago.

The difference is, if any are going to be more valuable, it'll likely be the rarities, particularly from countries who produced or owned fewer of them, and certainly not the common refurbs or average Chinese SKSs. The average Chinese SKS will probably never be rarer than a grain of sand at the beach.

I suspect the 4 million guns to be destroyed will be from the batch of more than 6 million they mention as being unservicable.
