hey guys,
Im looking for a after-market tactical stock for my Ruger 10/22. I don't want to put too much money into extra parts but I want some picatinny rails to mount sights, lasers, or tripods without having to replace too many other parts or making cleaning necessarily complicated. What stocks have worked for you and what stocks should be avoided?

Im a big advocate of the marauder/nomad stock, i have one and i love it. If easy takedown is a concern than maybe not though as it's clamshell design requires a complete takedown for a solid cleaning.
After you've done it a couple times tho it gets really fast and is not that hard at all. Lots of rail space for all types of goodie and a bottom rail as well for any afg of vfg or bipod. I just think that hands down its the best looking tactical .22 kit. i believe the kit was about 250? got it from hical.ca

Tactical Ruger 10/22? I got the Promag Nomad from Hical.ca :) and I love it!! I agree with the takedown though, so i will probably never take it apart again

Here's another vote for the Marauder/Nomad. At this point, it's the most fun-to-shoot gun I own (and I own quite a few!). I've got a red dot on mine, and banging away at golf balls at 50 yards is a no-brainer. Love watching 'em head for orbit!

I must invest in a loader, though - it doesn't take long to empty the two mags I have!!:D

How is this stock for accuracy?

Is there any slop between the receiver and stock?
Is the elevated rail as accurate/secure as the stock Ruger receiver rail?

Thx in advance.

I thought it would be somewhat inaccurate because the rail is higher but i was impressed!! I didn't even have to adjust the sights, it was accurate out of the box. I was getting dead center of sour cream lids and easily destroying clays at 50 yards.
The receiver and stock are straight in line and it fits together very well. Its very sturdy, solid and tight fit.

I have not put a red dot on it yet so i don't if the elevation affects it.

This kit definitely exceeded all my expectations and I love it! definitely money well spent

Their right, the kit is rock solid, zero play at all. Feels like the real deal, not that i've ever held a real g36 haha. One complaint i had, not sure if this is common, is the barrel seems ever so slightly tilted to the right, so the irons/plastics might not have been accurate, although i didnt test it as i put a vortex strikefire on mine, with the low mount, and it works fabulously.
I think the major draw to the kit besides the look, it that its the only .22 i have seen yet that comes with a magazine that doesnt give away the fact that its a .22, and IMHO if your gonna mod a .22 to look badass, it might as well not be spoiled by a dinky little .22 banana clip.
Oh ya and BTW I only do a complete takedown every 1000-1500 rounds to give the bolt a good cleaning, and this may only be personal preference. But eventually the gun will start to have problems ejecting and such so you will have to clean it, damn semi-autos.

No love for the Tapco stocks? I like the light weight feel and function of them compared to the Marauder stock that is very bulky.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of the G36 look, but I can't justify it for a 10/22 system. Each to his own I guess.

Anybody seen the MG42 10/22 frame they sell? Takes the "bulking up" a 10/22 concept to the extreme.

As one who has handled a real G36 & owns a Marauder, IMHO the Marauder feels every bit as good as the real deal...and maybe better. Weight is identical, balance is the same, G36 rattles just a little (but my Marauder doesn't).

My barrel was exactly centered in the stock (I've heard of a couple of others that weren't), and my irons were bang on out of the box. I put a red dot on my Marauder, yet can still see the irons (barely). Both shoot to the same point of aim at 50 yds....

So far, I haven't experienced a single FTF, FTE, etc., except for a couple of faulty rounds that wouldn't go, even in other rifles. Only a few hundred rounds down the pipe with mine so far, but I'm not anticipating any issues. Even my ProMag mags have worked flawlessly.
