338 LM - 300 grn SMK or Scenar????

I'm currently shooting SMKs but my supplier now has them on back order. I can get 300 grain Scenars. In general are these as good, better or worse?

I'm just wondering if the Scenars are worth switching too. Or if I should be patient and wait for the SMKs.

Or if you are someone that has SMKs in stock, please let me know.

if you swap bullets you will have to pretty much start your load development all over, a LM isnt exactly knowen for its long barrel life, so do you want to put that wear on your barrel to develop another accurate load or wait and keep goin with what u know works?

From my own experience the Lapua Scenars are tough to beat for accuracy and cost in the 338 Lapua over the Sierra SMK. They make new barrels every day .......... I wouldn't worry about wearing out the barrel before you find a load it likes. If that happens the original barrel just isn't all that good then.

yeah its the repeat load work up that gave me second thoughts. I guess if I don't try them for myself I don't learn nothing knew.

I think snipers hide just did a comprehensive review of 338 projos, not just accuracy test but finding out actual BC and determining best down range ballistics.

The scenar BC is a bit better than the 300 MK.( from actual experience) My bullet of choice in 300gr class is the Berger OTM.
