I just ordered a pair of Rudy Projects prescription safety glasses. The model is "Rydon" and my local dealer is making the lenses out of polycarbonate with crizal coating and in transitions-can't even tell they're prescription lenses. Ya they're expensive but have had some close calls with ricochet shrapnel indoors so enough of that. Another fellow shooter introduced me to the brand.

I got some Wylie-x glasses and like how they have transitions lenses for shooting outside. I would recommend trying on the different models available because some of them didn't fit my face right.The Wylie's wrap around and protect your eyes really well but Oakley's are better looking in my opinion.

I've really been struggling with eye protection. I have an older pair of ESS with prescription inserts and I find the inserts get smudged, especially near the top of them where is often where you end up looking through them when you have your head down on a shotgun stock.
The wrap around style I struggle with because I find they distort the view. I need glasses with more than one type of lens - clear, yellow, magenta.
So if anyone has input I'm all ears. I hate getting old, still have a ways to go but I worry that vision issues are what's going to be the biggest thing standing in the way of my shooting as I continue to get older.

Almost any Optician can make you a pair. I use a yellow tinted pair for Waterfowl and Bird hunting as it cuts the glare on cloudy days. Also, the yellow ones are good for driving in Snow conditions, as it cuts the glare off the snow on the road, and allows sharper definition of previous tire tracks so you can see where other vehicles have gone.
Also, I order mine with a bit higher lenses. With ordinary glasses, you look straight ahead, but when you mount a rifle or shotgun, if the lenses are not high enough, then you end up looking over the top of the frame because your head is tilted a bit downwards.

That was one of the reasons I was looking at the Oakley Flak Jacket. The lenses are pretty easy to swap out. I get $200 credit for Rx glasses from my work so that helps but still pretty pricey. I wish I didn't need Rx lenses... sucks.
Those are nice looking shooting glasses. What's your prescription? I would guess not too bad for wrap around lenses to work?
Both me and my wife have Rudy's. Her Rx is pretty high, I'm not sure what exactly but we couldn't get Oakley's for her b/c of that.
Rudy Project made our lenses not the local guy, and they were able to go to a much higher Rx than anything else with curved lenses.

I just ordered Wiley from Marstar. Called my optician and they said that they made shooting lenses in the past, so I essentially bought just the frame and my optician will made lenses for the frame.
Hopefully this works out for me, had enough shells hitting me on the side of the eye.

Aren't they just inserts or is the actual lens Rx? Any distortion? Thanks!

Not sure on my prescription but my dealer said my eyes were on the edge for making the prescription lenses that curved - as far as ordering lenses from Rudy Projects I'm not sure about that. Apples to apples, my dealer could make them up cheaper than what I could get from Rudy Projects.

All they need is your prescription if you are going that route.
