hey guys i put a scout scope on my sks(my red dot bit the dust) and now i find it hangs over top of the receiver where ejecting shell will hit it, i cant believe i overlooked that detail when i switched from red dot to scope anyways my question is do you think it will work? do i have to get a shell deflector or can i just wrap the part that hangs over with a few layers of hockey tape? i know i cant use stripper clips but im not too worried about that

its a bc tactical moimt, it replaces the rear sight leaf so part of the scope hangs over top of where the shell ejects, im wondering what would happen if i just left it alone and let the shells bounce of the scope

OK, that isn't a bad mount but are you using a scout scope?

I would imagine the eye relief required means you would have to no?

The do sell shell deflectors, but the problem is they typically are inserted under the rear sight, and held in place by it. I don't think they would work with the scout mount in place.

Can you put up a pic of your set up?

Persoanlly I would just put a red dot on the scout mount further forward so it doesn't get hit. That is the set up I had on my CZ and it worked great.

yeah its a scout mount, i had my heart set on a scope and i failed to think thoroughly about the repurcussions of ordering and paying for a scout scope instead of sticking to a red dot. im kinda trying to justify buying a scope now. if i go ahead with the scope i wonder if the constant hits from ejecting shells will eventually wreck something inside the scope i dont care if it gets a little dinged though

I would stick to a red dot.

Bushnell TRS would probably be my choice, as I am sick of reading all the stories of exchanges for Vortex Sparcs.

If you want to do it on the cheap, I had a Tasco red dot from Canadian Tire on my CZ for a long time, and I never had an issue with it. Only cost $50. Even if you had issues Canadian Tire would exchange it.

Cheers
