300 win mag loads

im a newby at relaoding was wondering if any reloaders out there a have a 300 win mag load that they like

i shot both a weathery vanguard and remmington 700 xcr in 300 win mag

- what weight/style of bullets would you prefer?
- what are you goals - high-performance, cost-no-object? Affordable practice ammo? etc

A hunting load that has worked for me in 4 or 5 .300 Wins is 75 grains of Reloader 22 under whatever 180 strikes your fancy. I've used Hornady Interlocks, Ballistictips, Partitions, A-frames and a few others. For some reason it always seems to work.

It's a very easy cartridge to load successfully because almost any medium-slow burning powder seems to work well. It is not a fussy cartridge to load for. IMR4350 was the gold standard for 300 win for years, but it's hard to go wrong if you consult a loading manual or visit the hodgdon powder website.

My Ruger M77 bolt action shoots 5 shot 1 inch groups consistently at 100 m with this load:
75 gr.s IMR 7828 SC
CCI 250 Magnum Rifle Primer
Winchester case
Barnes Triple X 168 gr. bullet

Work up to this load. It's not max but you shouldn't start at 75 gr. initially. It is a great hunting load.

H4831 seems to work well for the 300wm loads I put together. I was using 75 grains to push a Hornady interbond 165. Now I'm shooting a 300WSM, and using the same powder and bullets, but less powder.

H1000 is my favorite for long range loads, but its advantages tend to show up after hunters have quit.

I used one for many years and found IMR 7828 gave me the highest velocity and good accuracy with both 180s and 200s. Used W-W cases CCI 250 and both 180 and 200 Parts.

How well does H4831 work in this caliber

It's all I use. For my Remington 700 I load 73 grains of H4831 under Hornady 180gr interlocks with CCI MLRP's. When developing for my rifle I found it more accurate than the max 75 grains I had listed but 71 grains also proved quite accurate.
