why buy a rail and cover it in those covers? i don't get it.

i love the exposed rail look.

Four allen screws on and off... It might add 5 min to the cleaning time. No modification what so ever. Best 55$ I spent on the rifle.
 
Have you fired it with the rails yet? Can you still use the iron sights? I heard that since it clamps to the gas tube, it somehow affects the gas functioning of the rifle if the rails are on tight.
 
I like the scope base you bought. Personally, I would at least shorten the side rails, or just put in a blank rectangular piece. I would not bother with another stock. It looks very nice just the way it is.

Edit: if you wanted another stock, one of the red fibreglass stocks from SKS man would be a good choice too imo. :)

Seriously hoping you are joking in this post. Otherwise you may need to increase your Ativan dosage.....:D

I do agree that from a practical standpoint, many of the SKS add-ons serve as "dead weight" to the platform, but that's just my opinion. Personally I like the ergonomics of the Tapco stock (the one the one with the bayonet cut just in case the undead rise...haha). I also added some "Gator Grip" to the forend and the pistol grip.



Are you finding that your optic is holding zero on that rail system?
