My AR is ejecting rounds fine, however it will not pick the next one up until I #### it after each time I shoot. Again shoots great and ejects will not pick up second round, it is not the mags they worked fine before

Step 1 I replaced the gas tube and block, not change to the sitiuation

Buffer spring seem to be in good order but there is a little grinding when I pull back the bolt any help would be great thnx

what power pill said.if the bolt doesn't lock back it means the bolt isn't going thru its full rearward motion and then forward to strip off a fresh cartridge.simply put one round in the mag,and fire.if bolt isn't caught by hold open catch then the problem may be with your buffer/spring.try that first before you start tearing the gun to pieces.

Thans yes the mag stays back when the mag is empty sometimes, I will try the buffer spring thnx open to all other ideas

Make sure you don't have a rifle-length buffer spring instead of a carbine buffer spring if you're using a carbine receiver extension and buffer.

A rifle-length buffer spring should be around 11¾ inches to 13½ inches depending on if its stretched or not and a carbine buffer spring should be between 10 1/16 inches and 11¼ inches. I've seen people with rifle-length springs in their carbines and it wasn't pretty.

Hope this helps!

I had a similar problem with my first AR, which I still own for now, a Norinco 10.5. It was easily solved by a good check and clear of the lower/upper. For some reason a wad of patches was jammed behind the hammer near the rear receiver pin, probably for spacing, and was being pulled back by the bolt every time it was fired. Be careful of your spacing between the upper and lower if you use a frame buffer or something like it, take a look at the marks on your feed ramps if you can see them, if it looks like the bullet is hitting the ramp pretty hard and low maybe it's a simple fix.

What type of stock do you have? If you have a fixed rifle stock you may have the wrong butt screw in there. If its to long it may not be letting the buffer travel fully rearward.

Can you replace just that part

Yes but it can be a pain. It seems to me 3 things could be happening
1- gas problem somewhere
2- Your bufferspring being to strong (unlikely if it worked fine before)
3- did you start changing anything about the rifle?

Check the carrier key to make sure its round not bent from being dropped,
If you can blow freely through it then its not blocked at all then it should be good too go.

It just sounds like the rifle is working fine extracting and ejecting but the bolt and carrier just need to go further rearward during recoil for the lugs of the bolt to hit the base of the next cartridge

Sometimes? It should lock back all the time. (if the mag is empty)

What sort of shape is the mag follower in? if its old and banged up..that might be your problem
