I don't have one, but have been reading up on them as I plan on getting one in the future. From what I understand, these rifles all have slightly different measurements depending on the make/model. Having said that, many after market parts require "some fitting". So yes, you may have to break out the dremmel tool and remove some material from the underside of it for a proper fit. The search function may be able to give you more details. Hope this helps!
"Doesn't fit at all" is no help. Where is it not fitting?
One of my 858's had a tall gas block that needed to be ground down before so the rail could pivot into place.

Some need a few passes with a file but I would avoid the Dremel.
Too many things have been ruined by Dremels.
I have such a handguard by NEA and I was happy of the super-tight fitting.
Once in place, this guarantees there'll be no wobble.

that's what i thought but i've ruined a few pieces already trying to custom fit them lol - so wanted to get an idea. as per the consensus, fitment is required and because of that I am just going to solicit the services of a professional
back end and it seems the canal for the piston isnt wide or deep enough either
i started that but the shine and my huge as file make me think i should just pay someone with the skills to do this properly

PS: nothing against NEA, its just all the bad threads and then something not working as YOU think it should without more knowledge, kinda makes you consider this possibility as well. Please don't read anything more into this as it is important for me to support a Canadian manufacturer
So it's too narrow to fit around the rear sight base? That's not uncommon given the variations in paint and outside dimensions of the 858.
You've lost me on this part. If you can't install it, how do you know the piston won't fit?
I had to use a rubber mallot to get mine on , very toight, but I like it that way. The only problem I had was with the supplied roll pin, I bent it trying to get it in, so used the original dowel. Taking the upper handguard off for cleaning after corrosive ammo, I do notice that it is off by an inch or two and have to range in again. Usually off by an inch or so in any direction, will test it again this weekend.
update, it was just the front ears, soon as i filed them (maybe 6 passes with a file), it fit perfectly. what i thought was the canal not settling or the piston hitting to the top was just the front post not settling properly. now that its on, with a fab lower and nea upper - best money i ever spent.
