Hi All,

I am hypothetically looking at buying an ACR sometime in the future (well in the future). I have a couple of questions regarding A.) getting one in Canada B.) if not, importing one.

I know Questar had a couple a little while back, and they still list them. Is there too little interest in these as far as a vendor is concerned? I can't seem to find much on here regarding them, maybe I'm just blind.

If I were to go about importing one, what are the steps? How would it be classified? The only ones I can find down south have a 16.5" barrel, meaning it would be restricted, correct? Having it be the "Adaptive Combat Rifle" could I swap out the barrel to an 18" one to have it be non-restricted?

Thanks in advance.

Funny I was at my local shop (US) picking up my class 3 paper work for my 14.5 inch 870 police and I ordering a 14.5 inch Noveske upper to finish my AR build when I saw an enhanced ACR and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse! The acog is for the AR build, i want to run an eotech with FTS on the acr.

i doubt questar has any even thouth they are listed. acr's where sold out in canada 2 years before they even made it here. to the best of my knowledge there are no new ones really availble in canada or the states as there is production / quality problems in the factory. as such remington hasnt put any out to market for a while. you might see some here and there at shops but my guess is they are used and havnt been sent to the factory for repair. dont quote me on what i typed here though.

as for importing one. i will let someone else answer that question.

I've inquired gravelagency about em this week, they told me they should get an order by the end of July...

I wouldn't necessarily place a lot of faith in this. The US supply situation with respect to ACRs is apparently pretty dire, and both rifles and parts (at least from what I've heard) are in very shorty supply. Something is up with the ACR - but it's anyone's guess (maybe they're preparing to release an upgraded version 2, who knows...).

The best bet for an ACR is a WTB ad in the EE.

Well I take it for what it is; Until they are here, they are not here...
It's in their catalog and when I asked they told me:
"We will receive the order in July 2012"
That's not necessarily absolute, but I'll inquire back around the end of July 2012.

Ps. Purevil, you are evil indeed....

I was not able to get a price from them tho...
I'm under the impression until I get a price its fine with my wife, but when I'll get one she won't be happy :p

That seems to be what they were around back when they first came in. Unfortunately that'll be a little earlier than I can afford one I think. Will they be non-restricted?

Yes; When I emailed them I was asking about their NR "target" model: fixed stock, plastic handguard, 18.5" barrel, no FH, no sights. (They also had a "tactical" model: fixed stock, railed handguard, 16.5" barrel, permanent FH, MBUS.)

Incidentally, the polymer hand guard is preferable with a longer barrel as it gives you a bit more length and covers the gas piston. It's basically a modified Magpul MOE mid-length, so it has all the same mounting points for the MOE rails (so you can easily mount a bipod, vertical grip, AFG, etc.)

I'd really like to see the new one they're targeting at the military with the magnesium lower and elimination of the quick-change barrel system; apparently it saved about 2lbs in weight, the selector is in a better position and you can now use any standard pistol grip.

I don't know, that tactical looks pretty good. Even with the gas chamber sticking out. Excuse my ignorance but what is an "FH"?

As long as they don't give us a damn heavy barrel that every black rifle that comes to Canada seems to get stuck with when they put a 18.5" on. :(
The lighter the better. It its light I will buy one again and will probably skid the Tavor.

check out their catalogue. Doesn't look like a heavy. Page 37-38 after you download it. h
