Is My Accuracy Hooped? (Update 14-May)

I just received this new LMT AR barrel, and upon running a quick patch through it discovered two flaws in the chrome lining (they look like gouges or scratches that run across the rifling). How hooped is it? Is this going to be a safety issue and will it severely affect accuracy? This is the first time I've ever run into anything like this, so any experienced or more knowledgeable opinions would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for the photos in-advance (I had a heck of a time even getting these)...

The first pic looks like the gas port to me... as it looks like it is lined up with the gas block. On my 10.5” barrel the gas port is very easy to see and easily mistakable for a flaw.

The second pic looks like there is a scratch next to the gas port, probably from when the gas port was drilled. If so, ask for a replacement, new should be new. Bores can be polished but I can’t imagine there is any way to make it new again.

Looks like the gas port to me... as it looks like it is near the gas block... Atleast the first picture does.

My thoughts exactly .... I once sold a SKS to a guy and then got a nasty message from him saying there was a chip in the bore ? well it turned out to be the gas port , lol he felt pretty stupid after ...

Contact the manufacturor and see what they have to say. In one picture it looks like a single slot, but in the other it looks like two marks. The gas port should be round, at least it is in my ar barrel.

Sorry, I should've just turfed the first image because it's hard to pick out unless you reduce it in size. The scratch (gouge?) starts behind the gas port and then intersects with the rifling. Then there's another that's right after and continues up the left side. I actually found another one closer to the front of the barrel but couldn't get the camera to focus in on it properly.

You can see the rifling is higher than the scratch" imperfection" wouldn't and shouldn't be a issue at all!

I wouldn't worry but its your money not mine!

It will bug you until the end of time. Once you know something is flawed it will eat at you like a cancer until you finally replace it. Much easier just to send it back as defective and get a new one.

As long as it shot fine, I wouldn't much care (expected accuracy).

There is no safety issue. I highly doubt that is some kind of hairline crack through the entire barrel.

Should have got the MR308 Blaxsun, told you so.............hahahhaahhaha

Just kidding man, that sucks...return it...
