GSG 1911 HOD-hold open/mag hold open??!?!?!

OMG-some useful posts!!

it appears as though all three mags dont 'catch' the slide stop-or the slide stop doesnt 'reach' into the mag well deep enough

after shimming each mag follower so it rode as far to the left as possible the slide stop started functioning correctly

although-I still wonder why the mag followers have the steel reinforcing pin at the rear.....

Crazy. First thing I noticed when I got my GSG .22 was how excellent the quality in the mags were. I guess just like one in a million Glocks have issues so do one in a million GSGs. :p

Seriously though, I have never seen a .22 pistol accept so many different kinds of .22 ammo without issue. Great pistol!

dont get me wrong-the pistol SHOOTS excelent

its just this hold open problem that has me stymied

I have 3 mags and they all exhibit the same problem without being 'shimmed'

I would guess its a problem with the slide catch-to short to reach te magazines 'hoo-haw' that lifts the slide catch when the mag goes empty

will send details and a pic or 2 off to blue line soonest!

Well...I don't feel qualified to say cuz I've never met you :)

But....my GSG does lock back and drop mags freely exactly as my STI 1911's

John

Mine is like a true 1911. Slide lock-back after last round, mag drops (careful so you don't break the plastic floorplate). BTW, did you clean the gun before your 1st range trip? Mine has some greasy stuff that keeps the slide from racking freely. Maybe some of this type of grease got into your slide stop and inside the grip where your magazine slides in and out. Clean the pistol, lube it properly and try racking with an empty magazine. If problem persists, send an email to Blue-line. Ryan or Scott will put you back into action as they consistently do.

Email replied to and parts are on the way.

Best regards,
Ryan
