Marauder problems

I picked up a Marauder stock and a couple of mags back in the fall. I finally got a chance to get it out and I can't get it to feed anything from the ProMag mags. I've tried a number of types of both solid and HP ammo but none will even feed a single round and the ammo is coming out with the cases bent and the bullet gouged up.

With the factory rotary or TI mags I have no issues at all, function is 100%.

I knew there were some problems with gen 1 mags but I believe these are Gen2.

I spoke with the vendor and he feels it is likely an issue with the fit of the two halves causing the misfeeds (ie: mag does not seat all the way into the receiver) and this needs to be addressed. There is a small gap at the front of the stock. The only problem is the receiver is as far into the chassis as it will go. The front of the receiver appears to make solid contact with the stock and I don't want to start removing material since I'm not sure where it needs to be relieved.

Looking at these pictures does the gap between the two halves look like a problem? Does anyone else have a stock that fits like this that works with the ProMag mags?

Your mags are they the one with the sleeve on top that make them look like 223 mag? if yes, if the sleeve is removable, try them without it. if they shoot well it's because the sleeve prevent the mag to go deep enough. But that is only one idea.

I hate to admit it but I never thought of that.

I'll give it a whirl. Thanks

I know my promag mag wont feed properly if I dont watch how I'm loading it. Make sure the little metal arm goes under the casing. I have to push on the rim to seat it all the way back before the little arm goes under the case. If I just feed rounds into it not looking, they might feel right, but they wont feed 100% because the shell isn't on the prefect angle.

Sorry if that didn't make much sense, damn hangover LOL

I know it's a pain to dissassemble but did you try the mag in the rifle without the kit? If it behaves the same then you know it has nothing to do with the 2 halves of the kit fitting together. The problem is entirely in the mag itself.

By the way - the gap you're referring to is supposed to be there. Don't worry about it - they all have it.

As far as the rounds getting bent is concerned, it sounds to me like like the mag isn't seating far enough into the gun, so the rounds are stripping off, but hitting the bottom edge of the chamber, rather than feeding into it.

When these mags are new, they can be finicky about latching into place. It's easy to have only one of the metal nubs on the mag engage as it should, which can leave the mag canted forward or back a little (which could easily cause your problem).

What I do is to insert the mag until it clicks, then push fore and aft on the base of the mag. On a new mag, I'll often hear a second click, as the other metal nub engages. As long as I do that, I get absolutely zero FTF, etc.

After several load/fire sequences, the mags get fully broken in and there's no longer a need to do this.

The mag that came with my stock worked flawlessly. i bought a second mag and the spring in it felt really loosy goosy and the rounds were sitting at weird angles when i pushed them into the mag fast, so i have to take my time loading it or else i have the same problem. maybe if the rounds feed really easily into the mag thats your problem.
