What is the shortest shot gun you can own?

The Blue Line 6.5" are 2" shorter than the Grizz (not sure if adding LOP stock puts it under 26"). Actually some N/R firearms can be under 26" OAL granted it can not be fired with one hand, came from the factory in such a configuration and a few other things. There are a few lever guns kicking around that are under 26" and still non restricted, not sure if there are any shotguns though but I think there was a single shot one.

please show where the law says this?

I can shoot my 18" one handed (not well) does that make it more dangerous?

also can you provide links to said guns under 26" that are N/R?

I cannot think of ANY.

There have been cases of a shotgun getting cut down and reclassified as a pistol but that still restricted

Rossi Ranch hand is around 24" and non restricted.

there are a few I can think of right now, some lever, some bolt, both have shortened stocks so they'd really be only good for children. For shotguns I think Baikal had one, not sure. In my opinion (not worth anything) based on wording of the law i'd say you could put a full length fixed stock on a pump shotgun with say 8.5"/6.5" barrel and even if it was under 26" still be safe because it does not fold, telescope, can not be fired as a pistol (debatable). Here's a gun that was sold as N/R but according to video reclassified

The 6.5" blue lines need a full length stock to remain N/R. The 8.5 grizzs can use a short 12 LOP stock and remain N/R with an OvL of 26".

All the Ranch hands are 24" as stated and N/R.

I stand corrected.

But that's one. any others?

IIRC, there are dedicated threads on this topic, but I'm too lazy to look them up.

Bottom line is that it is something that concerns manufacturers, not us. If a manufacturer can make it so that it requires two hand to operate, it will still be NR even if it's under 26". Pumps should qualify (but not semis), but I haven't seen any manufacturers doing this yet. Feel free to convince them there's a market, I'm sure there is!

It's not really a question that we consumers need to bother ourselves with, because if we make any change to a firearm that results in it being under 26", it becomes prohib. Even if you take a 24" Mare's Leg and add a buttstock spacer to make it 25".

DLASK 870 shorty comes with a pistol grip and as the manufacturer describes "These are a non-restricted item at this time".
The 26" rule does not apply because it has been manufactured this way.

At $849 its an expensive 870 but you get what you pay for :D

The shotgun will still become restricted once the pistol grip is installed, the CFO has switched that ruling and deemed it a pistol; DLASK himself told me in an email he has neither the time nor money to fight the ruling in the courts, since he made a specific request that these little 870s would be OK to produce with pistol grip and still being Non-rest back when they were first introduced, however thats not the case, the CFOs now have them pegged as Restricted with the pistol grip installed, and are also labelled Restricted w/ p.grip installed in the FRT Database as well... very unfortunate indeed... :(:(

As mentioned before, although not a shotgun the Rossi Ranch Hand I believe is the shortest OAL length Non-Restricted Rifle that is available to us Canucks :dancingbanana::D
