Has anyone had this issue with the Norinco ammo?

Hey fellow Nutters,

I recently got my paws on some of that Norinco ammo that's been getting around and I took it to the range today. I feed my rifle whatever I can get my hands on and I NEVER had any ftf's or fte's untill this crap came along.

I had 3fte's and on the 8th round the casing completely jammed in there!

Sorry for the bad photo, is all I got.
My head spacing is 1638 which makes it okay to feed it either ammo so what happened here? I believe the load was too hot. Anyone else experience this?
Also, I keep my rifle clean and this is after 20 MFS rounds and 8 Norinco.

The shell looks bulgy by a millimeter so I'm just curious.

Could be a multiple things;
  1. fualty case
  2. laquer build up from steel case ammo
  3. damaged extractor
ect...
Now for fixing it point the muzzle down to the ground. Leave a little bit of laquer thinner around the case and the chamber. After a few hours add a few dabs of kroil oil just like you did with the laquer thinner. The next morning get a cleaning rod out and give it a few taps. IF that don't work post back and I got another few ways getting a stuborn shell out of your action ;)

My bad. I didn't title the post properly. I was wondering if this is common with the Norinco ammo? The casing came out no problem afetr I used my cleaning rod to tap it put. (pushed slightly)
Anyhow, should I bother buying this ammo again? Is it just a bad box? Bah!

Heres a review .. I also did some tests and find this ammo way too hot for a M14.. im even reluctant to fire it in some of my bolt guns .

Gone through about 700 rds. of Norinco .45's with 5 or 6 FTE.

The cases were jammed and mangled, but these were early in it's break-in period of the new Norinco 1911.
So, was it the cases or the gun?

Everything is fine now, and I've started to shoot some of the reloaded brass, with no further problems.

anonivic, I had the same issues with Norinco .223 in my Kel-Tec SU16. Same thing. Stuck in barrel or FTE. Ended up fouling my bolt carrier with bits of shattered casing when the second shot went into it.

However, I kept the ammo and tried it this weekend with my Norinco CQA and shot it all morning long. I guess some rifles just hate it.

I have to say that I noticed the hotter loads as the first 20 were of different make, same grainage. I haven't cecked the primer but the casing, like I said before, seems to have expanded a millimeter. (no caliper measure, sorry)

Good thing I only have a box and a half left.

I have sent approx 250 rounds of the Norinco .762 ammo down range and I have had 2 FTE that looked "exactly" like your picture. My guess is that it was maybe a hot load or a poor casing. I tapped it out with a cleaning rod from the business end and all looked ok with the M305. Guess the QC is just no what we might be used to. Overall the ammo shoots fine and does not appear to have any ill effects on the rifle. So far, has not stopped me using it. Hope this helps.

Sorry to see that my human friend. Good advice in here though. My master has the norinco brass cased copper jacket stuff. No problems. But it is hot like a hot dog to shoot. He uses his norinco with it. I don't like Chinese stuff though personally.... They eat my kind! I'll stick with non dog eating manufactures of ammo. My master is just a cheap ####! Woof!

That was priceless! Thanks FDD!

My disclaimer... I'm a total newb to firearms and my m305 was the first centerfire rifle I've fired.

I've gone through roughly 400 rounds of the norinco brass cased copper jacket (assuming that was what came with my shorty combo). I had a fail to eject that cleared by cycling the action. It was probably within the first couple boxes. Flawless since minus the accuracy but I'm willing to blame my newbness combined with norinco sights.

I made the mistake of buying that Norinco copper washed steel cased ammo that recently arrived in Canada. It's complete garbage, I'm getting the same issues in my m305 and recently it has been screwing up my 308 Ruger Scout. The bolt is hard to close, and very hard to open after shooting. To top it off, it's not very accurate out of either rifles. My buddy has a Rem700 and we couldn't even try it in that because the bolt wouldn't close.

I would sell the stuff on the EE, but I don't feel right doing that because if I don't feel safe shooting the stuff I'd rather not pass it off to someone else.

Sasha, I've gone through a case (520rnds) of the CanadaAmmo Norinco 7.62x51 steel cased ammo & had not one problem. R.S, i'd buy your remaining ammo off you if you'll deliver up-Island :)

Interesting.
I just finished off the first spam can of a pair that came with my CanAm shorty.
I thought they were light loads as they would short stroke in my long barrel(Sadlak guide and USGI spring) as well as the shorty.

Once I put the Sadlak guide and spring in the shorty it has been cycling perfectly. I think I've had one dead primer in the case so far.

0 problems with any Norc ammo I've bought. I've fired 800 rounds in my m305 not one ammo attributed stoppage. Norc mags on the other hand...
