6BR/Win 748

Apparently Hornady lists it in their newest manual but I haven't seen it. I found a liitle
info yesterday. I shot 748 in my 22br and have a lot of it on the shelf so I'm going to
try it. Looks like 28.9 is a starting point with 70gr bullets.

How light of a bullet?
I am pushing 68, 70 and 75 grain bullets with N135, anything heavier then that gets a case full of Varget and a stiff jam into the rifling.
748's a dirty powder, if your barrel will continue to shoot well when it is heavily fouled then I say go for it, I shout 60 rounds plus sighters followed by two wet patches and 3 dry and my barrels are spotless, I credit the powders I use for that.

I only have 55's and 65's at the moment. Tried 748 and the 65's today and wasn't swept
off my feet. I was getting too much vertical but I may try it again. I don't have any
N135 but I have N133 and all the other popular powders. Just thought I'd try 748 to use up some of my supply. I'll go with the 65's and some of the more popular powders for now until I have a chance to get some 68's to 75's. A 12 twist 6mm is new to me but I pretty much know what direction I'm going.

I have a 1 in 13" twist barrel on my 6mmBR and have been getting really good results (for me anyway) with 68 Bergers and N135 (~3450 fps and nice small groups). Varget has also worked good. You'll like the 6mmBR!

I tried the 748 and 65grs and wasn't impressed. Then went to H322 and that was real
good. Going to pick 68gr Bergers tomorrow and I think that will be what I stick with. I
also have a 243 Ack and a 6-284 so I'm used to a 6mm just not a 12 twist. Once I'm
happy with the 68's I plan to shoot this gun at 600 and I have an 8 twist 6br at the smith's that I plan to shoot at 1000. I've always liked the 6mm bullet

34grs of 748 in my 6mm br and a 70 gr mk excellant accuracy!! i have also found h322 real good as well, but not as good as a max charge of w748! tried lesser charges in my gun with no luck, it needs a max charge of both h322 or w748!!

That's interesting Ajax, I think I was around 30-31. I usually don't load near the max but
I'll keep that in mind. I've shot a lot of 748 with 40gr bullets in one of my 22br's but
that's my coyote gun and it's been a good load but I don't shoot it a lot. I also have a 22br bench gun but I lean more to the 53's or 55's and I don't use 748 with them. I was trying the 748 in the 6br to use some of it up but maybe I should give it a chance with
some max loads before I give up on it.

bedrock, it is very weird, but all the powders i have tried in my 6mmbr have had to have a max load or just under it to shoot at the powders best accuracy. if i backed away and loaded it down the accuracy also dimished!
this little cartridge seems to like pressure!
