To celebrate the fall of the registry, I picked myself up an SKS a couple weeks back... a nice 1955 Tula Refurb with all matching numbers, nothing ground off, ######'ed out or painted over. Promptly ordered some brass non-corrosive from SFRC, and a Tapco Intrafuse stock (with the bayo cutout) and recoil buffer from Brownells. That was on Friday, March 4. Put a few rounds through it at the range last week, throws milsurp REAL high and wide... to catch center of mass on a B-27 silhouette, had to hold on the right-hand cuff at 100 meters. Got some adjustments to make.
The stock and buffer showed up at my door YESTERDAY!!! Fast, and no problems coming through customs... the stock was only $70 at Brownells and the buffer $7, so no extra paperwork! Took all of 10 minutes to install that this morning... (worst part was a little file work on the gas system to get it to fit and lock down proper) and it looks SWEEET!!
Now, my question is: has anyone added rails to the sides of these stocks? I didn't get the railed version because then you lose your bayonet (and for an SKS, this one looked too nice to cut apart- I even considered not changing the stock), but wouldn't mind a short rail on the side for a light of some description. Anyone who has, I'd love to know how it went.
I'll try and get some pics up later.
