My application for an NRPAL was received on Mar. 5, has anyone in Ontario recently received theirs? How long did it take from receipt of application to issue?
Thanks

PS: Took around 5 weeks to get my CFSC stamped by the CFO and returned.

UPDATE: April 29 and still nada.
I have however discovered that the 45 day processing time in Ontario is 45 BUSINESS days which pushes the date of issue back to 9 weeks from the date of receipt.
UPDATE May 14 and still nada and whats more... bad news for all
Hi All, I was told today by the CFO for Ontario that they have a massive backlog and are currently processing PAL apps received in JANUARY!!!!!! So much for 45 days processing time. You guys from out west make me sick!

This was posted today May 16. "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre"

So start to finish it's taken 5 months from the time I challenged the NR exam.

chase it soon as it shows initial processing and in progress
RIGHT NOW GO! GO! GO! lol, don't be rude wait 1-2 days between calls hope u get someone nice

today i was told that the license times are taking between 45 and 60 days. ok i can understand it takes that long if you have to wait the 28 days waiting period. but i am upgrading from pal to rpal and shouldn't mine go a bit faster. should i write my mp?

problem is that if you don't get someone that is willing to jump you over the line it will be first come first served, i would just try someone else after maybe a week to make it look like you gave them some time to do the background check and what not

she said they havent scanned it into the system yet... but my online check showed it as received april 23 and it came online may the 4th and already said finished processing now in progress but its been like that for 2 weeks. in progress my ass more like in limbo.

happened to me too wait a day and call again

I just called in again haha everyday i called in since it was online may the 4th well i might have skipped a few days but today they surprised me. the one i got today said well sir i see you have called in many times.... and it hasn't gone forward because it wasn't scanned yet into the system.... it seems to be scanned now i will forward you to the officer for your interview.....then i got a bit excited and actually nervous. lol what a lame interview asking 20 questions every answer was no. i kept expecting a trick question to make a mistake or slip up. lol anyways 24 days from receiving for an interview boys. this was an upgrade from pal to rpal. now i hope my references are able to give the interviews woohoo!! CHASE IT!! but remember they are keeping track of how many times you call in so..... maybe some nasty one will bury your application for calling too much. haha

Mine was approved yesterday. I called the regular number and got someone that at least tried to explain why it was taking so long. But then she tried to tell me that the 45 days was from the time that the application was forwarded to the provincial CFO!

So an hour later I decide to call the CFO. I actually get someone that looks up who was working on my file and asks if I want the extension number. I'm like YES! They then transfer me and the officer in charge. She was very nice and we spoke for a few minutes. She explained to me that there were a few questions and they transfer these files to a office local to the applicant. In my case she was in Aurora. She then told me that she would approve it today. Ten minutes later it was approved online! :dancingbanana:

My time line:

Fire arms course March 15th
Mirimishi March 29th
Online April 19th
interview May 3rd
Approved May 16th

Oh and ya... She knew exactly how many times I called! ;)

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Woo..... hoooo.....

My RPAL sequence of events:
-CFC received application April 5, 2012
-Application first designated "in progress" April 26, 2012
-My called-in interview completed May 3, 2012; immediately told references to call in.
-2 other interviews finally completed early morning May 10, 2012 (lazy bums!)
-License issued May 10 within one hour of completion of last interview
-Received license in mail 12:00, May 18, 2012

Therefore, 43 days from the day that the CFC received my application to the day I received my license. (If my references had been faster on the draw, I would have gotten my license probably five to seven days sooner.)

chase it soon as it shows initial processing and in progress

Going to leave it a few days, my 28 days are not up until next Friday... so, a call mid week should do. Both references are ready to call in too, promise of beer for a quick response works wonders :)
