JR Carbine Problems and mods

what were the measurements on your buffer? I wanna check mine now.

The old buffer is stainless steel, the newer heavier buffer is steel.

He had me measure the end of the buffer where it "tees" as soon as I told him it was 1/4" he said " you got the wrong buffer".
I don't now what the new buffer measures, Maybe Matt308 can help us out.

I have the .40 with 300 rnds through it. Winchester FMJ for 150 rnds with no problems. When I switched to the Winchester "clean brass" ( I think that's what it's called) I had 3-4 malfunctions within 150 rnds. Nothing too serious.
It's a 3rd gen model.
I'm using Magpul Mbus with a red dot in the future.

Looks great!!! what kind of rail is that? any mods to fit it?

I have a 9mil bought from Epps several weeks ago, about 250rnds through it now and not so much as a glitch.

I too was interested in a .40 because it was what I shoot for pistol but the guy at Epps told me very frankly to stay away from the .40 until the fixes are done and proven over time .... he said get the 9mil you won't be disappointed and it's cheaper for ammo.

I have not had so much as a second thought about my 9mil JRC.

JR 9mm

I bought a JR Carbine 2 weeks ago and have about 300 rounds through with no hiccups at all. I love this thing, shoots great, mags are easy to get and the rails give u lots of options.
Do yourself a favour and get one.
I bought mine at Cdn Tire in Belleville On.

I have a 40 cal jr carbine took it in to epps a week ago jams every shot cutting the brass. The guy there told me he has two guys working twelve hour shifts doing nothing but fixing jrs. Said it would be 3 to 4 weeks before I'd get it back. I'll have to see how it runs then.

Well, my concerns have been strictly with the 9mm models. Sounds like the second generation is good to go. I wasn't happy with the trianglar barrel, however I hear that they have switched to a round barrel. Thanks to all for the info. I plan on getting one soon and am looking forward to doing some cool mods to it. This is my first Blacky so I'm just starting to get educated in all the terms and garb. It's tough to get up to speed on these. I see many hours and tons of money spent on getting it to look the way I want.
Sorry to hear so many guys complaining about the 40cal's. Sounds like the JR manufacturer is working hard to make things right though. Thats nice to see.
I have back searched many posts and am learning lots about JR's and AR's.
Thanks to Newless for some good feed back.
Can't wait to get one of these JR's on the work bench.
BTW I can't believe CanTire sells these. What did you pay? Any sales?
I'm going to they web site right now.
The cheapest I've seen is 850 by a dealer here.

Two guys, twelve hour days, 3-4 weeks fixing nothing but JRs?

So, Epps has sold like 350 JRs, and all of them bad?

Think you had your leg pulled......

X2 i know they had issues with feeding, but the folks at JR have resolved this issue.

I was told by a local gun store in my area the first ones could be fixed with a flat file, and work to the mags , not teh gun its self..

but i am no gun smith, knock on wood mine runs

I finished transforming my 40 to the way I want it . ( No change to the mechanics of the gun) Now I have to figure out how to make it fire !
First trip out loaded 10 rnds of Winchester white box 180 grn FMJ (slow fire) & worked great. Reload same mag same ammo faster firing (not rapid fire) Jam , FTF, FTE, crushed case.
several primers looked like excess pressure . Switched to Fiocchi USA 180 grn FMJ , 3rd round separated leaving half the case in the chamber (fell out later) checked the 3 Fiocchi cases & all primers show excess pressure . JR said this ser # was late production with all applicable upgrades. Waiting to here back from them after sharing with them my first attempt at shooting it .

Strikefire is solid, shame about the rifle (45acp)

If i could return it i would get the Kriss 5.5, jrc are a bunch of idiots, never learn from their mistakes just make bigger ones.

Shorten the buffer spacer, reverse the Glock mag spring and verify the buffer is steel not stainless and your .45 carbine will shoot like this:
