I was looking for a cheek rest and the prices were stupid. I mean 60 bucks for a piece of plastic eh. So I was around the chicken shed and found a bit of old eavestrough. :)
Cut to length, place in boiling water, add salt to taste. Soon as its a bit floppy whip er out and wrap er around the stock...wear gloves at this point..I know of what I speak. Couple of seconds later shes formed and then you just whip out yer favorite tool (Dremel, or files ) and have at er until you like it.
I spent 2 bucks on bolts and 2 hours fartin around and can you tell it didnt cost 60 bucks.
No room for designer labels in my world ...adapt and overcome eh :))

Yes, I know the scope rings are massive eh, but thats what came in the box. I have another set which I'll probably put on. As for the plastic being solid enough....no worries, its such a small piece and with a fairly tight curve, she feels like a bit of Kevlar, really solid. And its about 3 to 4 mm thick....and like I say it can always be Mk1...lol
Im more impressed with the fact that I posted pictures without being a potty mouth...thanks again Chalkriver LOL

I love that "welfare" approach to gettin' 'er dun! :D I shoulda done that with some eavestrough material and a 'heat gun'. :)

Thanks for the tutorial and pictures! They may just inspire people to get out there and have some fun with the materials and boiling H2O. :D

Cheers,
Barney

You don't need to put stuff underneath a stock pouch anymore if you buy the Triad Tactical version, it comes with strips of velcro that you stack on top another haha

I know this because I just bought one for my scout, and the rifle looks ###y now

I'm f'in impressed! I was fully expecting an abortion of a mess. Tight and clean, and I also like that kinda special forces bengal tiger stripe camo you've got going on... I think this looks similar to your newly mod'd rifle...

I are'nt cool..........Im cheap :) and Im sick of getting burnt every time you turn around eh. Must be a bit of REME left in me lol. I have a vision of wings and wheels next....sh-t, already done...... F-14. Wonder if Norinco does a cheap F-14...save me a bit of time in the kitchen.
Swapped the scope rings, dont need a ladder anymore :))

Stay cheap and look in the shed before ya buy ANYTHING.

Nicely done! I'm always prepared to be amazed and amused when a DIY thread starts out with "So I looked around the chicken coop for inspiration..." so this was a really pleasant surprise!

Nice job.
I used a piece of 4" std PVC pipe and a couple of furniture joint connector screws from Home Depot. The boiling water method to soften the material is better than warming it in the small toaster oven.
The good thing about using scrape material is that if you don't like the end result there is always another chance to do better.

Wait till I finish my swiveling bipod....its gonna be ...............different :)
Thank the Gods for the Dollar Store...Crappy Tire is too rich for my blood :)
