I went to the Burnaby gun show today looking for a sported Enfield to rebuild. I found one :) Prices were great. There was a #5 Enfield in nice shape matching#s for $250. I agonised over buying it but I was already out of cash by then.
Anyway I saw a beautiful Polish M44 tagged as unfired (?) and the guy wanted $900 for it.
Is there anything that would make this carbine worth that much?

Was it 24K gold, with a pure Ivory stock ? If not, I really doubt !!

I wouldn't pay $900 bucks for a Mosin Nagant if Kalashnikov himself used it to assassinate Hitler.

Well, I probably would, but you see my point.

Typical Union hall pricing. A vendor got quite pissed at me for finding a better price on the EE while I was standing in front of him.:D

I bought an M44 at Reliable several weeks ago for $175 :p

My Polish M44 from Epps - $175

And yes I chopped the Bayonet. ;)

Did some twit BUY that M44 for anywhere near the asking price??

Yes obviously. If it was a modified CQC tactical edition that was used by a black ops unit during a top secret mission that prevented space Nazis from taking over moon base alpha.. $900 plus shipping.

I didn't hang around to find out. I can't see anybody paying that much. There was surprisingly a lot of good buys there today. I get the impression that sales have been down and they finaly realised the market wasn't going there.

It's no different than the guys trying to sell small quantities of surplus ammo.

I've seen 50 cent / round 7.62x39
I've seen 1 dollar / round 7.62x54r
My favorite was a guy asking for someone to go in on the 360 dollar packs of GP11, and he'd let me have my share for 1.50 a round (??).

For the record, I bought two mint unissued polish M44's for 300 a piece last year.

Haha! I was at that show, and spun on my heel when I saw that price. I figure, it was one of those vendors trying to shake-down wealthier individuals who are getting excited with older pieces; without the fore knowledge of current market prices, and, or, historical significance.
