Here's a nice old Ithaca M37 in 20ga.

I've been looking for one with 26" VR bbl and factory IC choke for quite a while. When this one popped up here on CGN, I jumped on it.

Nothing special compared to a lot of shotguns, but a nice find nonetheless. I'm very pleased with this one. :)

I was quite pleased to get the VR, but it was the 26" IC choke bbl that I was really after.

.

Picking up stuff like that at this time of the year makes Fall seem even further away!

Few months back, guy on the 16ga forum was offering a nice Y2k manufacture Featherlite 16ga with original 21.5in VR bbl, screw-in chokes + English stock.....I offered him what was a very fair deal but he never budged from his asking price that wasn't really justified. I still sometimes think about that shotgun. :)

True words. I bought a Parker repro 20 late last year as well.

Few months back, guy on the 16ga forum was offering a nice 60's manufacture Featherlite 16ga with original 25in (EDIT: 21.5in) VR bbl + English stock.....I offered him what was a very fair deal but he never budged from his asking price that wasn't really justified. I still sometimes think about that shotgun. :)
I bet you think about that one. Nice shotgun. What was the ballpark asking price?

We are about to start the flow of Ithaca up here again :D

Our first shipment should be on the way soon.

I love these shotguns.

I love them also and need just one more to complete the set a 28ga. But I will be dammed to pay $1100 and tax for a standard grade pump.
Not sure where Ithaca's thinks they are going to sell those for that money you would want more than standard grade. One would think the company would be trying to compete with the wingmasters and keep their prices in that range but no so.

Not ULT.

Was made in 1975 which is ironic as that was the year I bought my first gun, a M37 12ga.

.

Very nice gun congrats. I picked up a 20 also this year off the EE with a vent rib been looking a while for one. Not in the condition yours is however and a mod choke. Just need a 28ga now.

While the 37 is a great gun it is an older design. I think Ithaca is playing on the nostalgic memories of baby boomers wanting to re live the good old days afield. It is not worth 1100.00 on it's own , but with the memories of dad, old sport the beagle and strong legs it might be....

Hi Darryl Did they even make a 28ga 37 in the 60's/ 70's.I have never seen one but never checked into it either

Nope, Ithaca made the 37 in 12, 16 and 20. The new Ithaca company inroduced the 28 bore about 4 years? ago. I have never handled one but I can only imagine how light it is knowing how light my 16 gauge is.

The newest Ithacas are pushed with a vent rib with the "solderless barrel system" (SBS) that supposedly keeps the barrel more true & straight, versus the soldering required for older gun barrels. I don't know about anyone else but I've never had the older rotoforged barrel being suspected of a slightly bent barrel, with the rib. The one drawback with the new design is the added weight.
The 28 gauge with the 'new improved' SBS vent rib barrel design weighs more that my older 20 gauge (very similar to SC's) but with the plain barrel. I don't about you guys, but myself I don't call that progress for an upland bird gun. Especially so in this 28 gauge chambering. After a long day in the fields after huns & pheasant, it's the gun between your hands where one will appreciate more the lighter weight & not the declining number of live shotgun shells in your vest IMO. ;)

Oh BTW Super Cub, Nice shotgun there! (A lethal wand indeed)
