I get the theory.

I don't understand how to remove this mechanism (see pic) that is already in the mag tube. Some sort of spring retainer?

Is it critical it be reinstalled in the extension? Thanks.

You can pull it out with flat tip "watch out! the spring will fly if your not careful"

The only purpose of it, is to hold the spring the tube during feild stripping

And that's what I did, slowly wiggled it out with a big flat screwdriver. And had an explosion of parts around my office, even though I was expecting it...just didn't quite have my hand positioned correctly.

Next question: The kit came with a sling point, and also this split ring thing, see on the right on my desk....what is it for?

Your sling plate is in the wrong spot

Remove the plate and re-install the tube. Now slide the sling plate on and snap ring

OK I see it...but wow, I'm never going to get that snap ring on there......must be a tool for opening it up enough to get it over the slot.

And to hold the pointy thingy that acts as a ratchet to keep the mag tube cap tight.

How do you plan on keeping the extension tight, Redhouse? Any reason you got the +1 instead of the +2?

Because I didn't see a damned +2 lol

Dunno about keeping it tight, I'll just screw it down hand tight and hope. Be funny to see the cap, spring, and a few rounds go flying out during a match. Not.

Thats right, but if you tighten it good your golden

Loc-tite is your friend.

The +2 is nice because a clamp takes that problem out of the equation. Though I don't see any real reason you couldn't use the clamp on a +1.
