Jonathon shot his Barnard actioned .308 win at 3 day Victoria day shoot at Connaught 19 to 21 May 300m to 900m. with his new March
Tactical March-X 8x-80x 56mm, The Nightforces & Sightrons are not in class of this March not even close, at 900 m the v bull looks like a Nightforce 12 x 42 at 300m or better.he shot very high scores at 300m 500 & 600m he shot a 50 with 9 v bulls and should have asked for higher value fellow said shooting with him, he shot 39 v bulls for weekend ahead of all guns, but the Ghost winds of Connaught
really got to him at 800 & 900m wind changes where 2.5 to 5 moa every minute to 2 minutes and thats left then to right. it certantly humbled a lot of shooters
I saw Libertys score with a 223 & 90gr 71 of 75 with a few V bulls at 800 m
He ended up tied for the FTR class with high score but lost to Orange Kenny with his fine shooting .308 win by V bull count. Everone says bulls are what win the shoots, but those V bulls can win you a shoot just ask Liberty

The fine shooting Leo D Amour won the open class with his 6.5/284

The heat was up low 30 c to 32c full sun very hot, lots of fellows asking for cleaning rods, lots of stuck cases ,some powders working in cool weather where far to hot in heat
specialy the double base powders. I had to pull all my 90gr bullets and dump all powder, and reload all with Varget a considerable slower speed but very stable in heat
If you ever have a chance to look at a March Tactical March-X 8x-80x 56mm
you will understand when I say Sightron & Nightforce are way outclassed for, everything, sharpness, user freindly, and at 80x your 308 holes at 300m look like 50 cal.
Only sad thing about them they are only a hair south of 4K, I would have to be lucky on the Lotto to ever afford one.

Impressive all around. I know March scopes are popular in the UK but I didn't know they were available in Canada having never seen one here. Do you know who is the Canadian dealer ?

march scopes

Kelblys Inc, in North lawerence Ohio (home of the super shoot which is going on now, camping for the shoot is filling up as we speak so do not call them until after next weekend) talk to Jim Kelbly and tell him Jeff Wardlow sent you (supposed to be there but cancer surgery has made the journey on the list for next year.
They are the world wide distributor, Lou Murdica got them made initially and Kelblys sells them exclusively and can ship them to the Canadian side of the world,

good scopes, hold point of aim, and do not change point of aim when changing distances (in some models)

I'm glad I didn't look through Jonathan's scope I think I'm better off not knowing how nice it is, even with the nearly $4k price tag.

Great shooting by lots of folks this weekend, including your cleans at 300 and 600 on Sunday Paul!

Every time I come on CGN I always leave wanting something double the cost of my last purchase. Pretty neat video here showing the magnification and clarity of them here

I wonder how far the equiptment race will take us in F-restricted? 80x scopes @ $4k , 0.5 moa V-bulls. It's going to be difficult for someone new to get into the game at this rate. With factory guns and ammo, even if the shooter is in perfect form he won't even be close.
I certainly don't mean to criticize, just wondering if we are moving in the right direction. I love the sport, and will continue to support F-class.

Correct me if I'm wrong but at double the price of Nightforce and four times the cost of Sightron they should be a lot better. But are they twice as good? Mirage has to make the upper end of the magnification range all but useable.

Don't be too critical Orange Kenny broke out his trusty 6-18 nikon buckmaster (you read that right) to finish the match over his Sightron.
costly equipment will only get you some many additional points, you still need to read the wind.

I looked through the march at 80x it was amazing how sharp the picture was. one of the big pluses is that it is 10 ounces lighter then the nightforce that is a huge saving on weight when every ounce counts.

Heavy mirage will render the upper magnification of any scope useless, the fact is that you will still be able to use a higher magnification than your neighbor using a x-24 or x-32 or x-42.

As an example, if you are using a 24x scope in heavy mirage you may have to back down to 12x to see clearly (about 1\2 power), the guy next to you has a 32x and has to back down to 18x to see clearly, the guy with the 42x has to back down to 24x........the guy with an 80x will probably still have 35-40x usable in the same conditions.

All scopes will work best at their exact middle magnification and be the worst at their extremes.

wow...at 4k geez...congrats. I'll take my buget sightron/nightforce and spend the extra money on top shelf barrel, top shelf action, lots of ammo for trigger time to get my scores up.

Nice scope any rate.

When I was on a search for a really good scope I was considering March. However if you do a search you will find a number of dissatisfied customers. The scopes don't seem to be consistent from one to the next. Some say they are the best while other customers have stated" it was the single biggest chunk of change I have wasted in this hobby". If you get a good one it seems almost everyone would agree they are the best target scope in the world but I would not buy one without looking through the exact one I intended to buy.
Also( unless it has changed) the warranty is 5 years to the original owner and non transferable. That is not a very good warranty for a 3-4 grand scope.
