Finally have access to private land that allows for safe shooting to any distance one wishes to try. Best of all it's less than an hour from my front door!

A couple more spots to check out this year and if I ever get a canoe then things will be sweet!

Damn, you Westerners are lucky - I hope you know that, appreciate it, and take advantage of it. What beautiful country and what beautiful shooting places.

I am quite lucky too. Less than 20km from where I live, we have a "slot-in-the-woods" 600m and 1000m range:

Anybody in my area knows Sylvester Rd, I've got a few gongs up there. This pic is where two of the gongs are. The yellow dot is 630yd, and the red is 900.

This is the same spot back in Feb. I stayed there three hours and took < 10 shots. You can see why.

At another spot on the mountain is a target board at 300, a target board and a gong at 730, another board and gong at 1100, and a perfect 1000 yard spot still eludes me

Sylvester rd.

We went up there last weekend for the first time with the wife and grandson to have a look ourselves. It is sickening the amount of garbage being left up there by shooters, dump trucks loads of it. I got the feeling that if it is not cleaned up or people take their sh!t out that it may get gated in the future.

Sorry was not intending to hyjack the tread and I am not implying that any of it is yours 9x19p.

It is quite disgusting up there. Everywhere you go there is garbage and casings. Next time you go, keep driving north, you will find some nice scenery. I wanted to get away from the dump, that's how I found this spot.

I do my part, if it's not suitable to burn it goes in the back of my truck. Tarps collect the .22's and 12ga and everything comes home.

The firing line in the pic took two days to clean up, including a tv and dishwasher, but I'll go there tomorrow and find more. Sad but true.

And yes, a gate will be coming. A friend lives in one of the cabins on Stave Lake, accessible from Sylvester Rd, and they're trying their hardest to lock us out. I don't blame him one bit.

This is one spot I've used that's less than a mile from my home. It's a field road I set up on and shoot into the field on the right. It's a slight incline all the way to the horizon and I only shoot when the farmers are off the field. No houses etc in that direction for miles. To the trees it would be a few kms. It can get windy though.

I can see my house in this pic.

Last spring me and my Buddy built a platform out in his parents pasture, we have 1200yds to play with. The white target board is at 300yds. Takes me 15 min to get there.
